How to reset Chrome proxy settings?
I am on a public Wi-Fi connection with an access provider that wants to change my user profile from Chrome browser. I use the following steps to avoid some problems but not all of them : Open the "C:Program FilesGoogleChromeApplicationchrome.exe" file in CMD with administrator privilegies Go to the network options. It's in the upper right corner. It's a gear icon.
Click on the "LAN Settings". Select another wifi connection and choose option 2 (manual). Select my wifi connection. Set the proxy. The problem is that the proxy settings aren't saved. I'm always redirected to Google.com.
The settings are not deleted either. It is possible to delete this options to avoid the redirection? It seems that if you manually modify the proxy settings, they won't be applied. The only way to apply these settings permanently, and it works perfectly, is to set up another Chrome profile.
Is it safe to turn off proxy?
I am having issues when using a proxy server. I have to download lots of files and it is taking a while but I don't know if the reason is that the proxy is not set or there are other problems.
I am on windows, I used the settings manager and set it to use a global proxy for internet. I read in one of the forums that one should only use that in LAN. But what does it mean? I only need access to the internet and this is how I access it.
It does work fine, just I would like to know how to solve this problem. Is it safe to turn off the proxy and still go in the internet and work with the proxy? Thanks in advance. I will assume that you meant to post to this site by typing @sagemath. Then we can proceed, and there is actually a very simple answer to your question. If you run a browser such as Internet Explorer or Chrome you can use File -> Location -> Network options to get to the proxy settings. In those options you would find something like "Use a Proxy Server". If you uncheck this box it means the setting has been removed from the file so no harm done. It will have the same affect as if you close the browser. Your settings are now stored in the registry so it won't affect any other browser such as Safari, Firefox or Opera. As I noted in my comments, the main security issue here is where these settings are stored and your browser does have the ability to store these settings themselves.
If this is not what you are looking for, please elaborate a little more.
How do I find my proxy settings on Chrome?
I have the latest version of chrome. It's not listed in my environment variables, but I checked through http proxies and found only my local network's proxy address.
Try Chrome > Tools > (More) Options > Under the Hood tab (You should have the chrome icon to your far right) Then choose "Manage Exceptions" click "Add" For "Address" enter if you are testing within one machine, then change it to your localhost entry. Then restart Chrome, if your exception doesn't change then add it again using the address from step 3.

Chrome proxy settings control how your web browser connects to the Internet. For example, if you have a WiFi hotspot with a proxy server, Chrome may use that proxy server in order to connect to the Internet. The main reason for using a proxy server is to hide your location so that your online activities can't be tracked. However, there are times when you may want to use your own proxy server to improve your browsing experience. In this article, we will show you how to disable Google Chrome proxy settings.

How do I remove a proxy from Chrome?
I'm using Windows 10 and Chrome. I'm on a university network, which has a proxy that is added automatically to my computers when I connect to the network. This doesn't pose a problem, since I can easily switch it off for websites, but I have no way of uninstalling it for Chrome. The only way I know to get rid of it is to reset Chrome, but that's just a temporary solution and does not work well with any other browser.
Any ideas on how I can get rid of this proxy? Open Google Settings, select Connections, select the option that has a blue arrow next to it (the name might be different, depending on your regional settings), and under 'Add your own', click on 'More network settings' and go through the manual options. This will disable the connection and you can then delete the proxy from Chrome.
