What category is Hana-Maui in the Hyatt?
It's in the Hyatt Regency at Waikiki Beach.
I would try to avoid it if at all possible since it is one of those hotels where you get stuck paying for things whether or not you use them, or whether or not you even want them. If I was booking a hotel, that would be a definite no-no. I would stay somewhere else if it were a choice between the two places.
If you don't mind paying for an upgraded room, I would recommend a couple of places. If you don't mind paying a bit more, I would go with The Grand Waikiki.e. You'll get more bang for your buck.
The Hyatt Regency is a nice place too, but I'd expect it to be a little more "posh" and stuff. Thanks for the info! I'll stay somewhere else next time around. I just couldn't help but notice that the price difference was really small between the two. That's why I mentioned the Grand Waikiki because it was way less than what were quoted at Hana-Maui.e. We got a great deal and everything, but we also have to pay for a "service fee" on top of that.
You're right about that. There's no difference in the rates between the two, and I think they just make that claim to make people more money off of it. I've stayed there a bunch of times, but never once have I seen that. I know that if I stay in the Grand Waikiki, the cost for a night will be more than the cost of Hana-Maui.
Just read that the Grand Waikiki is getting a new spa and a rooftop infinity pool. Sounds like a great place.
Yeah, I like the Grand Waikiki, too. We stayed there on our last trip. It's the best option for a group of 3. I've also stayed at both Hana-Maui and Hyatt Regency Waikiki and enjoyed both. There are pros and cons to each.
I've stayed at Hana-Maui a few times before. I love it there. The food is nice, the pool is nice, and the rooms are cool looking. But I think that it's a little out of the way.
Is Hana-Maui nice?
I was asked the question by a colleague the other day.
? Well, if you mean is it a nice place to visit or live and I said yes, then yes, I think it is a very nice place. But if you mean is it a nice place to vacation in, then no. You can have a nice vacation in lots of places.
I'll tell you why. In Hana-Maui, there is only one beach (which I consider a major complaint) and it is right at the center of the island. The rest of the area is either private land or reserved for other purposes. So if you want a wide range of things to do, you have to go into Hana town or Waikapu town.
The beach in Hana-Maui is quite small. It is pretty much a mile-and-a-half long. There is plenty of parking, but it is limited to where you can actually park on the road. The area that is reserved for parking is about 400 meters north of the beach.
If you want to swim or snorkel, you will need to use the public beach. The public beach is fine, but it is not a great swimming beach. Most of it is exposed to the sun, so it is not safe for swimming in the summer. There are no lifeguards.
In the winter, there is a lifeguard on the beach. You can walk to the lifeguard station from the parking lot. And I suppose if you were to be injured or fall off the cliff into the water, they could save you, even in the winter. But as far as I know, they don't really come out to check on people much.
There are no restaurants or restrooms on the beach. You have to go into the parking lot or Hana town or Waikapu town to eat or use the restrooms.
It is a little too far to walk from the parking lot to the lifeguard station, so you won't get a chance to meet any tourists. But that doesn't stop the locals from trying to sell you a boat ride around the island. If you buy a boat ride, you won't see much.
