How do I stop my iPad from automatically connecting to VPN?

My iPad was connected to my network via VPN.

I have not connected it to the Internet since then. Now, I'm trying to connect it to my network (via iPad), but the Network Assistant asks me if I want to "connect to a new network" or "add an existing network". I'm not really sure if it has anything to do with VPN, but I'd like to know if it's possible to change this behavior. I managed to do it. I had to go to Settings > General > Reset and then tap on "Reset Network Settings".

Why does my VPN keep turning on on my iPad?

I recently received an iPad for work (3rd gen, WiFi) and I wanted to make it easy to use for the office. I have my MacBook Pro hooked up to a VPN. When I connect my iPad to the MacBook Pro, it asks for the password and then goes through a 2-4 minute "synchronizing" process.

After this process is complete, I'm able to browse the internet just fine. The only problem is that I keep seeing the little VPN icon on the top bar of my iPad. It says "Connecting." and even when I unplug it, it doesn't turn off. Why is it doing this and how can I stop it?

Re: Why does my VPN keep turning on my iPad? It sounds like you have it set to auto connect. On the iPad go to settings and look for "VPN" or something like that. Make sure the setting is set to "off". Also make sure your iPad has a good battery and you're not using an iPhone to connect to it.

Thank you! I went into the settings and I did see VPN but I had it set to "off." Is there any way to turn it on manually from the settings? This has been a problem for me every time I try to use my iPad in the office. It's very annoying.

Also, what is the iPhone set up for? Is it set to automatically connect to the VPN when connected? Yes, it's set to automatically connect to the VPN. I've tried plugging it into my iPad via a charger and via an ethernet cable. Both have the same issue. My iPad is charging via an external power brick at 100%.

Sorry, I don't have an iPhone so I don't know what's set up. But, you can disconnect from the VPN if you go into the Settings > Network > VPN > Turn Off VPN.

I've never seen an issue like this before. I can connect to the VPN just fine. It's something about the iPad itself and the fact that it keeps turning on/off on its own. I didn't even set it up myself.
