I've been surfing the internet with my iPhone for a while, and I find it convenient.

I don't have any personal experience with TouchVPN, but I did use another app (VPN Master) for a while. I never found it to be slow or limited in any way. I have always been able to download my desired content without problem. It did require a subscription for the free version, but I don't believe it ever changed anything in the speed or quality of the service.

To be honest, I don't think that you'll see any real difference in the speed or quality of the service. The only difference between the free and paid version is that the paid version has more features. Well, I just checked their website, and it's not clear if they provide a free version of Touch VPN. I've been asked that question often over the years, particularly by people considering using it to avoid the 'Big Brother is watching' warnings, as used in the Snowden leaks. These warnings are designed to give the individual an understandable impression of what actually happens when they connect to the internet. But do they help or hinder?

Well, if you were just interested in connecting to the web, and using a VPN wouldn't help you at all, then no - definitely not. Even if you want to use a VPN to get round geo-restrictions, the fact that you're only talking about online security means that you're probably talking about using it when at home and off-line anyway. You might be able to get round a small number of security checks with your ISP, but any significant ones would mean asking permission to connect. And once again, it's more a matter of how much you want to be caught than it is about how many people are checking you out.

But if you want to talk about how a VPN helps security online, then yes, we do live interesting times.
