Does NordVPN actually keep logs?
We asked the CEO of NordVPN.
It's a question that's been put to many VPN companies over the years, but is it true of NordVPN? Does the company keep logs? NordVPN was one of the first VPNs on the block to answer to a query of this nature. In fact, they told us that they had long supported client privacy, and they continue to honour this today.
Of course, there are those who have a more cynical view of companies like NordVPN. To them, they appear to be selling what they call 'no logs VPN' whilst actually keeping logs. And so were intrigued when we heard about the arrival of the latest NordVPN client software for Linux: 'No LogsVPN' (or, as NordVPN had originally called it, 'No Log Linux'). Of course, they are not alone in this: other companies also offer services that are not explicitly advertised as having no logging, but which do keep some data. What's interesting about this is that we haven't seen any other company make this public. NordVPN's response was a little different from the norm; to us, anyway. The answer provided by NordVPN CEO Daniel Vrines was intriguing, but he was a little non-committal. Our verdict is that we don't know enough about NordVPN and its operations to form an opinion. We're sure you can probably make up your own minds! NordVPN Client - How does it keep data? When we pressed NordVPN on the subject of privacy and data retention with a very well-intentioned individual, we were very struck by the level of their interest in clients' data retention. It made us very curious.
The simple fact of their offering a 'No Log VPN' product has to mean that they keep some data. However, they weren't quite ready to let us into their data retention facility quite yet.
The first response from Daniel Vrines was to explain that they did keep some data, and that their users' data is stored using industry standards. It seems reasonable to believe that.
Does NordVPN leak data?
Read our Privacy Policy
We want to thank the NordVPN team for being a part of the industry and providing useful information.
Their website is informative, their support team helpful, and their marketing is clear. However, their Privacy Policy is a bit vague on what exactly is shared with who and what kind of information.
To protect your privacy and personal data, we always strive to keep it as private as possible. We don't sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone. All data is treated with the utmost respect. We work hard to make sure that you can trust us.
What information is shared with who and what? Our data policy is laid out in a three-prong approach. First, we don't share your personal information with any third parties unless you explicitly allow it. Second, we use a secure SSL technology to prevent data leakage. Third, we do not share any information outside of NordVPN.
What kind of information is shared with third parties? Your IP address is the only information that we share with third parties. It's used to help us block spam and keep your connection safe. We also share it with third parties as needed when you sign up for VPN services, for example, when we receive new registrations or when you connect to one of our servers.
Can I turn off the sharing of my personal information? Yes, you can easily do this. You need to click on the "Settings" link and select the "Privacy Policy" option. Once you're there, click on the "Privacy" tab and then "Profile Settings." In this screen, you can select "No" for the "Send Us Personal Information," "Send Us Personal Information on Behalf of Others," and "Send Us Personal Information for Marketing Purposes" options.
If you're having problems understanding the information, please contact using our live chat option. We're always happy to help.

Does NordVPN give logs to police?
Here is what they say: NordVPN does not give law enforcement any type of logs, information, or content.
We believe this to be the most secure way to maintain your privacy and anonymity.
I would like to understand this statement in detail: Does NordVPN store IP address and other connection data in log files? Does NordVPN keep any data on user activity? Does NordVPN keep any information of their servers? If NordVPN decides to sell user information to law enforcement, will they get logs from users, who buy it? If NordVPN can't answer these questions, then I don't want it! Thanks.
