How do I fix Spotify firewall blocking on Mac?

I've installed Spotify for OS X today and I think it worked fine but Spotify is refusing to connect when I try to share my music with my home network.

What's up with that? In this case the firewall isn't the culprit here, it just happens to be what I've installed as my default network sharing service. What do you have set as your default network sharing service? Have you tried un-checking the check box next to the default setting for what you want to use? If that doesn't work, try turning off the firewall completely (and restarting your computer), so you can get rid of any errors that may occur during the boot process.

Spotify is not supported on OS X. Spotify for OS X is under continuous development. It will continue to be updated on a regular basis so that it gets even better for you to listen to your music. We also want to make sure Spotify always works perfectly for you. For now, this means we offer our support through a forum and an optional customer-facing beta product. While we're still working on getting all of Spotify functionality on OS X through the beta product, if you experience problems or issues, please report them via the forum.

If you are an advanced user, you can follow our roadmap to get notified about new features, fixes and support plans for Spotify for Mac. It's been a long time since an update has been sent out, so I'm fairly positive that it's a bug with the release that was sent out. As someone with the Beta tag, I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused by these problems and have removed it from the playlist to avoid it appearing in others' playlists. I've also made a note in the ticket system to make sure that the right people look at this issue.

In response to feedback, it would be preferable to have a way of opting in/out for Beta builds at a per-user basis rather than the "no opt-in but opt-out for everyone else" mechanism which at present is in place. For other people who have a problem with the Beta build and don't have the option of opting out, I am sorry for the inconvenience and will fix this problem as quickly as possible.
