How to deep clean a very dirty oven?
I deep cleaned the dirtiest, scariest oven in my house and I have two questions: 1) How long does it take to remove stains like dirt, etc. 2) How deep do I want to go before it gets too hot? I don't want it to literally melt! Thanks for your help! -kitten. 1) It depends on how filthy the inside is. You can leave there a week or you can clean it for three days. If it's really awful you might want to put the whole thing on the stove top and boil some water and use a scrub sponge. Or get something to scrape the inside real nice, just be careful not to burn yourself. After you do, it should be good. Remember to wipe everything off after, no need to soak the whole thing
2) For best results you should probably do some of both, depending on how bad it is. I don't see any reason to mess up a perfectly good oven though by setting up and using the stove. Good thing you cleaned it right away, if the dirt isn't that bad then.
How do you get out the food that will have baked into the walls.(like that yummy chicken n'duja cheese pizza we had for the holidays!) without making a big gush of yuck when you open it? -worried Hello, worried. First of all, it is unlikely that the oven contains that much food that needs to be "expelled" from the interior of the oven. (Unless your oven has a huge capacity, like our old range did)
Next, you can bake, or let your dish set a bit longer than usual. Just don't place a cookie sheet or such large object directly on the floor of the oven, as the force of gravity will cause the items placed over the heating element to melt rather quickly and cause an accident.
My oven is super dirty the last time I deep cleaned it was black. Now it looks gray from dust, what am I supposed to do so it doesn't stay the same. lizcuzkait
Hi lizcuzkait! Just be sure to do it again!
Can I scrape the inside of my oven?
How do I clean it?
Yes, you can scrape the inside of your oven without damaging your oven's seal. You may also remove the entire door and its frame without damaging the door. It's best to use an oven mitt and work carefully in this way.
To clean your oven, use a damp, soft sponge to clean the surfaces. The oven must be turned off and the door opened before you attempt this. There are many ways to clean the oven:
Use a damp cloth and warm soapy water to clean the oven's interior. Use a damp cloth and hot, soapy water to clean the oven's interior. Can you scrape an oven to clean it?
Question about scraping an oven to clean it.
I've had my oven at home for a few years now and I use to be able to scrape the inside clean with the handle of a butter knife without having to use any water. If I do not use a rag it smells up the house when I close the door, however I'm looking to get a new oven, but I can't find one that has the ability to clean it cleanly without any water being used (my current oven has the top that lifts and I have to use a broom to reach the corners) and I want to make sure that I get one that will allow me to scrape clean as possible so that I can get the best performance from it. Is this possible? Or does anyone know if a new oven will have the ability to clean itself from the inside? I really don't want to have to wait several days to clean out the oven to get it back to it's original condition. Thanks! This is something you just buy at the hardware store. There are also other types of cleaning tools that can be used. However in my experience these can be very messy. My current stove uses a steam cleaning system that heats up a small bit of water and a cleaning liquid. I was able to get off everything except for the metal around the burner where I could barely get a few stubborn areas. I believe it was because of the design of the burner. The way my current stove works is you load it with dry cleaning detergent and water. You turn it on and it runs like an hour. At the end you simply run hot water over it to remove the excess residue. If your oven has a steam cleaning system you might be able to get away with using this on it. Otherwise I would go with an oven scrubber.
I can't stand the oven getting dirty again when cleaning it and I was doing it wrong. Once you see how easy it is to clean the inside you won't forget it. The next time you have a dirty oven you'll be happy you didn't mess with it and saved yourself the trouble.
I'd take the plunge. You're never going to get an oven that will scrape clean unless you go get some kind of an electronic one.
