What is the difference between eero and Eero Pro?
You may know us best as Eero, the smart Wi-Fi system that allows you to extend the reach of your Wi-Fi throughout your home.
We're proud to announce that later this fall, we'll be launching our next-generation, new hardware product, the Eero Pro. It builds on the success of Eero, offering features like voice control, smart automation and an additional room for guests to connect. Read on for all the details, or get started now by ordering your Eero Pro system.
Eero's always-on, always-protecting Wi-Fi.e. To create Eero, the original Eero and its two-room sibling, the Eero Mini, we took a look at wireless networking for the home and came up with four fundamental properties: Always-on: Eero continuously runs in the background, whether you're sitting in the living room or in your bedroom. Always-protecting: Eero monitors everything connected to your home network and protects it from unauthorized access. Universal: Eero works across devices and can even route the signal to cover the entire room. Intelligent: Eero learns about your space and automatically adapts to your physical home.
With these four key principles, we designed Eero to offer a perfect balance of features and reliability for any home network. But while Eero is designed to be simple, the hardware alone isn't enough to ensure security, so Eero always includes built-in features that are constantly watching over your home network. When things go wrong, an Eero Pro will find out.
When unexpected guests crash your Wi-Fi with too many devices, an Eero Pro will tell you when it's happening and which device is causing the issue. And if someone tries to tamper with your Wi-Fi connection, Eero Pro will detect it and tell you what's going on.
Eero's four core principles were only the beginning of the new Eero Pro. In this newest model, we expanded on them to add voice control, smart automation and an additional room for guests to connect.
What is the range of the Eero Pro?
It is possible for the WiFi router to give out signals through all the rooms in the house and even in the backyard, even when the router is set to 'Private' or 'Guest'.
As mentioned earlier, it has a huge range. The maximum distance at which it can send out WiFi signals is 150 ft. Or 0.75 miles. It also has a signal strength detector built-in. It determines the signal strength based on the strength of the connection it receives from the neighbor WiFi router. It then adjusts its transmission power accordingly. So, it can provide an adequate signal in the rooms within the immediate vicinity and ensure that there's no connectivity drop outside that area.
Can I use the internet on my PC from any room? Yes. As long as you don't try to go for ultra high speeds, you will be fine. It is better to connect only a few devices like your computers, tablets and printers and leave it at that. You will still have a smooth internet experience without any glitches. If you do go for such speed, you will need to put the router in the same room as your desktop or laptop.
What is the ideal position for the Eero Pro? The best position for the Eero Pro is in the room that has the highest traffic. It is the perfect place where you can use the router. The router can even help out your Wi-Fi extender by offering Wi-Fi for them. So, if you are planning on using the Eero Pro in a common room, you might want to opt for another Wi-Fi router for your common room. You can also make use of the device's range to offer coverage in other rooms with less traffic. You should ideally have a WiFi router in the room that gets the highest traffic while the Eero Pro is in the room with lower traffic. That way, you can easily share your internet connection among all your devices and not have any latency issues.
How will the Eero Pro work in my wireless network? The Eero Pro router is pretty much capable of taking care of itself and will keep your Wi-Fi protected. However, it is your responsibility to ensure that your home network is safe and secured.
Should I opt for a mesh wireless router? Mesh wireless routers are more powerful than regular Wi-Fi routers. These wireless routers can support a much larger number of devices and have an overall higher capacity.

The eero Home WiFi system covers the following major home services: Frequently Asked Questions. What is a WiFi system, really? Before wireless technology, computers communicated with each other over telephone cables. Those days are long gone. In their place, we have wireless LANs (or WLANs). Most computer operating systems and software are configured to share available Wi-Fi connections, whether you're on a LAN at work, at school, or just roaming around your neighborhood. The problem is that if someone else takes over your Internet connection, it can ruin your browsing session and cause other problems. But, wireless communication isn't so easy. Wi-Fi signals move freely throughout a home, which makes them very hard to focus and pinpoint. Because of this, eero's WiFi system works by putting high-powered signals all over your home that your devices can easily pick up and use. That means they'll have a better connection than if they were plugged into your router.
How does it work? Because Wi-Fi signals go everywhere, you might need a little help from eero's proprietary technology to ensure your devices pick up strong signals.
