Does Windows support SOCKS5?
When I use the ssh tool on Windows, it always says: ssh: Connect to host 10.15 port 22: Connection refused However, I successfully connected to SSH server 10.15 from my client mac. On the server side, I can also connect to SSH server 10.15 from mac.
I think the cause of this problem is that Windows doesn't support SOCKS5, which is a protocol used to connect to the Internet through a proxy server. I'm using Windows 7, and will change it to windows 8 if I can't solve the problem. How to solve it? SOCKS5 is supported on Windows Server 2023 R2 and newer versions. As indicated in the answer by @Ivan, you should be able to connect to the SSH server using the Windows SSH Client. However, if you're on Windows 8, there is a new client that integrates with the Windows sFTP protocol (it's not the Windows FTP Client). See this question and answers for details. If this is the case, you should be able to connect to the SSH server via sFTP. Under Windows 2023 and newer. SFTP is the protocol that supports SOCKS5. See the answer from Matthew Leodowski.
Under Windows XP. SFTP was the only supported protocol for years, until v2.4 of WinSCP.
How do I fix windows could not automatically detect this Network's proxy settings Windows 10?
I have a Windows 10 machine that cannot connect to a few sites. The Windows 10 machine has a proxy server set up, but it cannot detect it. I have tried following the steps in the following Microsoft posts: I have tried the following: set the proxy server in SettingsInternet options, and restarted. I have also tried the following: set the proxy server in Firefox, and restarted. Set the proxy server in Firefox, and restarted. Set the proxy server in Internet Explorer, and restarted. Set the proxy server in Chrome, and restarted. The only way I can get it to connect is to clear the proxy server settings in Internet Explorer, and restart the browser. This is a workaround, but does not fix the problem.
How can I get the Windows 10 machine to connect to the internet? I had the same issue with a Windows 10 Home machine. I found the solution in this thread: This is what I did: Open the Network and Sharing Center. Select Change adapter settings. Select Internet Protocol Version 4. Select the Properties tab. Select the Use the following settings option. Click Use the following settings.
