To understand why the Golden Week feels even more important than usual this week, it's worth looking at what happens this fall. By coincidence, or the kind of strange chance that the network heads try so hard to avoid, the fall's best scripted shows on cable (which aren't counting documentaries and reality programs) are a trio that have been airing nearly every day of the Golden Week. "Game of Thrones" -- yes, it would be wrong to describe what they did as a "triathlon," though I'm almost tempted to anyway -- "The Walking Dead" and "Breaking Bad," the final season of which is next month. Together, these four cable dramas have the distinction of having the combined highest rating among all of this year's new series in adults 18-49, with an average of 4.

How do I get SHOWTIME ANYTIME on my TV?

Com, there is no way to add Showtime Anytime as an application for your TV.

You can add Showtime to your Roku or Apple TV (on the TV), however if you are using Roku, you are not able to get showtime on your TV. SHOWTIME will only be available on your television when you go to Showtime.com to select where to add it.

What's on Paramount Plus and SHOWTIME?

A little less than a week ago, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association held its annual Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles.

In addition to the usual best picture and best drama/musical/comedy awards, there were also some very surprising upsets, such as Best Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy winner Ricky Gervais who received the award for his performance in The Office. The following are my picks for the winners.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama: Matt LeBlanc, Friends. Jeff Daniels, The Newsroom. Chris Messina, Up All Night. Clive Owen, Boardwalk Empire. William H. Macy, Shameless John Slattery, Mad Men. If I'm correct about the nominations, I believe that William H. Macy is playing a very strong supporting role in Mad Men. His character has been through a lot over the past four seasons and yet the writers have given him more to do this season. While he certainly has been funny in previous episodes, I think that his greatest performances are those that show how damaged and depressed he has become in the wake of Betty's death. He shows flashes of the old Macy as he has become so emotionally devastated. The fact that he is still able to keep his cool in the face of all of these pressures is just incredible. I expect to see him bring it again in the final episodes.

In the end, I think that Jeff Daniels is going to win this category. Yes, I know that he didn't get nominated for his performance in last season's The Newsroom. However, his performance in the first season was already excellent, and he has continued to elevate it each season. If the last episode was any indication, it looks like Daniels will be playing a role similar to that of Bob Benson, the protagonist in Mad Men. As the series winds down, he is becoming more and more of a mentor figure for Don. I think that Daniels is playing one of the best male roles on television today, and I expect him to win.
