Are all 172 IP addresses private?
I bought a VPS from OVH and I received 172.
16.xxx IP address.
I read here that 172.xxx IP addresses are private IP addresses and can't be used by anyone.
It says that: "172.xxx/24 IP addresses were used for private use" Am I right to understand that 172. Do I need to buy an additional IP address if I'm only using VPS? Yes, those addresses are private. In fact, that's the whole point of Private IP Addresses. They're the first ones to be assigned for a VPS.
If you'd like to know more, you can check the official documentation (link is in Russian but it explains the concept well).
What is 192.168 0.0 private IP range?
Hi guys, I'm new in the networking world and I'd like to get your help.
In my network, we have a PC named PC1 with the IP 192.168.0.5. The PC has two WIFI antennas connected. If I use PC1 as the DNS server, I can't use its web browser or access the internet (no connection, no ping, nothing).
If I change the network adapter of PC1 to the internal WIFI, PC1 works perfectly. So what is the problem here? Does it have to do with the IP range? Here are some screenshots of my network: 0/24 is an Internet routable subnet for private networks. The 192.0/24 addresses are reserved for private networks.
Any computer within a private network with the IP address 192.0 - 192.255 will be within the same private network.
The "0" indicates that this is a subnet of the 192.0/24 prefix.
Within that subnet the addresses are from 192.1 - 192.254 (255.0).
From 192.255 you cannot route out.
From within the subnet of the private network you cannot route out.
