How many users can you have on Microsoft family?
- The answer may surprise you
The Microsoft family is an organization of over 1 million members across the world who are interested in Microsoft products, solutions, services, and technologies.
You can become a member of the Microsoft family with annual fee (or become an individual partner).
Microsoft Family - your journey in three stages. When Microsoft family was first introduced in 2025, the members were offered 1 free domain name. With the passage of time, the number of domains increased and more members were encouraged to add a second email address.
The three phases of membership is outlined as: Membership. As an individual member, the members who are willing to pay for their membership is considered as gold standard users as they have a license to use Microsoft cloud services. To be a member, the user needs to subscribe to the subscription service for a yearly fee (based on the product in which the user is interested) and also provides other benefits.
Expert. One of the perks of being an expert is that you get a personalized code, called My Code. This code is unique to your Microsoft Account and provides specific offers that you can only avail by becoming an expert. These offers can include Windows 7 upgrades or even discounts on Office upgrades. For any other product, there are usually no limitations to what you can buy, except for some services where there may be a limit placed by the vendor.
All the expertise members receive a monthly newsletter, containing articles from partners, relevant resources and news, the latest release and updates. There are also some exclusive offers.
Gold Partner. This is the ultimate status for the expert members. As the title suggests, the members are authorized as a Gold partner or vendor. As a Gold partner, the subscriber is invited to contribute towards Microsoft Office, Windows Phone, Xbox One, and much more. The members also get additional benefits such as free subscriptions to online magazines, a monthly newsletter, and more. These benefits are typically available to experts across all industries.
A lot of the benefits of being a Gold Partner include a huge inventory of devices and software. If the subscriber is interested in a new device, they can pre-order it as a premium device to give out as an incentive to become a partner.
Does each family member need their own Microsoft account?
Each family member must have his or her own Microsoft account.
This includes users that access any part of Microsoft Account. You can set up different Microsoft accounts for all your families members through the Family Safety settings at .
What does Share settings mean? When you are selecting this option, you share the email and phone apps between all the family members with Microsoft accounts on both mobile and devices. If the selected person does not yet have a Microsoft account, you will need to create one at . For more information about how to use your Microsoft account, visit How to set up my Microsoft Account.
Why are there two options to share my family settings in my family safety? You have the option to change your family safety settings individually for each member. Because you are sharing a few parts of your personal information, you may want to pick one option for all family members (for example all phones in a family). You can choose to share one app or one Microsoft account and change the setting for everyone. If you do not have time to set up your family's settings individually, then we recommend picking the Share settings option. This setting shares apps, settings and more with your family members.
How do I change what my child wants to see on their family calendar? In your family safety settings, you'll be able to see and manage permissions for apps on your children's devices. We provide a default setting for privacy, but you can also grant additional permissions to allow your child to manage what information they see on their devices.
Click the three-dot menu and choose "Privacy", then "Child Account Settings" to give them an overview of which apps and categories can access the child's calendar. The option called "Turn off location data and app usage reports on this device allows the child to turn off tracking by apps on their device. You can still keep track of their behavior in reports. Click the three-dot menu and choose "Privacy", then "General Data Settings". Then, choose Allow the app to collect my address, search history, app usage and other data.
On this page, your child can turn off search history and app usage reporting for specific apps.
How do I access my Microsoft family account?
I've been trying to work out how to access my Microsoft family account for a few days, and for that I've tried looking at the site that Microsoft makes (in their section of the website) that supposedly helps you make a Microsoft family account for your child. The problem is that it's not working when I go through it (it's telling me it will work every day from Monday to Friday between 9AM to 10AM (UK) times). I've tried it in multiple browsers (Safari, Chrome) and on a Mac computer and on Windows and have found the same problems all the time.
I'm hoping that somebody here will have some help and knowledge with this! I'm able to get onto www.com and it says that I can't connect because it doesn't exist in me. I'm trying to use this for a class assignment which has a requirement that I use a family account on msn.
That said, I was able to access mine using an older version of the browser (it was before the new version where you had to login), but I haven't been able to get on to any page with the new version of firefox/chrome/safari as mentioned. Also, I'm finding it much easier and quicker to just use the old version of the browser.
I also tried signing up for an AIM account in 'live' online accounts on Internet Explorer and it worked fine. It is an issue with Internet Explorer version 10 and above: Explorer version 11.0 and later versions support only one set of family sharing permissions at a time and that setting is not saved by using "set family group settings" in Internet Explorer 9 and earlier versions.
So, you need to close out the current internet explorer session, re-open it, and then change the "FAMILY SHARING SETTINGS", and check "Apply Family Sharing Settings to all family members." And that should do it.
If that doesn't work, then there are two things you can try to get it to work.
