Can I monitor my child's iPhone from my Android with Family Link?

Can I monitor my child's iPhone from my Android with Family Link?

It seems like a huge hassle to try and get everything working right now. I can't imagine using Family Link for my kids and me at home. It would be awful if I had to switch devices to monitor them while playing a game or watching a movie. What's the easiest way to see what's going on my kid's phone?

As of now, only Android apps can monitor another Android device. Since I'm using an iPhone, it's not an option. Can we be happy about that?

For iPhone, Apple's in-house app "Family Sharing" is supported by the iOS 12.2 update. We've not tried it yet, but we're assuming it works similar to Family Link. Apple has yet to announce an official release date.

For Android, Google is currently rolling out Android 10 with a feature called "Family Link," which is very similar to the Family Sharing program in iOS. It allows parents to monitor their child's device and even make changes. Family Link is not available to all devices; just those that have Android 10. If your device has Android 10, you can download it now in the Google Play Store or manually download it on your device.

If you don't want to download either Family Link or Family Sharing on your own device, you can use the website. To sign up for Family Link, parents must verify their email address and have the proper parental controls activated on their device.

This option is especially useful for families with multiple kids. Let's say you have two kids with a shared iPad, but they also have iPhones. You could use Family Link to connect all three devices, then use the Family Dashboard to keep an eye on everything from one screen.

To learn more about Family Link, check out the support document below. To get a feel for what the dashboard looks like, take a look at this video.

Why Family Link Is Better Than Family Sharing. It's important to know the difference between Family Link and Family Sharing. They both offer the same basic functions, but one is better than the other. Here are the differences:

Family Link lets parents monitor, limit and control a child's device, as well as view data from it. It can be activated on up to 10 devices, and it does not require an iTunes account.

Can parents use Family Link on Android?

Yes. Parents and children must have the same email address when using Family Link. The parent's email address is not shared with anyone or recorded in your child's Family Account.

Why can't I download and use apps from the Google Play Store? In order to get access to the Google Play Store, you must first sign into Family Link on your child's mobile device. You can do this by going to settings and logging in to Family Link. There is no other way to open the Google Play Store.

If my child already has an Android device, can I download apps for her through Family Link? No. Apps purchased through the Google Play Store cannot be downloaded using Family Link.

When my child starts to use Family Link, how do I know what device she is using? Once Family Link is enabled on your child's device, you will receive a notification on your own device. You will see a code next to the word Device Type in the notification. The code will be the same across all of your devices:

What happens if my child's device doesn't have data access? If your child does not have data access (cellular data plan or Wi-Fi only), Family Link cannot work. Can I use Family Link on my phone and tablet? Yes, as long as they are on the same account. If you have a separate phone number on your account, it may not be possible to use Family Link on more than one device at a time.

Do parents need to pay for Family Link? Family Link is included with any Google subscription in the U. Or the U.K.

How do I log in to Family Link on my child's device? On your device: Go to settings and log in to Family Link. Tap Use this account under the Settings button. Tap the red Sign In button to log in to Family Link. A confirmation screen will appear with the word Logged in at the top. Tap Log out to log out of Family Link.

If your child uses the Voice Assistant (like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant) on their device, you can link their voice profile to your account through Family Link.

Does Google Family Link work on iPhones and iPads?

It's free to use, but you'll need a Chromecast and a Chromecast Audio to make it work. Google Family Link works on Android phones, iPhones and iPads, but you'll need a Chromecast and Chromecast Audio in order to make it work. The free tool was originally announced at Google I/O 2023, but it has only just started rolling out to users. The first thing you'll need to do is download the app from the Play Store, but you don't need to create an account in order to use it.

Once you're signed in, you can see a list of all the devices that are connected to your account, and they'll show up under "Family" on the main menu. You can either add new devices manually, or you can add them by scanning the QR codes on their packaging or discs.

If you're using a Chromecast or Chromecast Audio, you'll need to add the device to the list manually. You'll need to go to Settings > System > Parental Controls > Family Link. From here, you'll be able to add multiple devices to your list.

You'll also need to add your child's email address to your Google Account if you want to use Family Link. You can either sign into your Google Account through the app or you can add a new one.

Once you've added all the devices you want to monitor, you'll need to turn on Family Link. You'll be prompted to set up a PIN or password, as well as enabling remote access for each device.

You'll need to set up a PIN or password in order to enable remote access. For this, you can either tap "Add PIN" and create a new one, or you can tap "I've already created a PIN," and select a PIN from the list. You'll then be asked to confirm that you understand that anyone with access to your account can remotely access your devices.

If you tap "I've already created a PIN," you'll need to select a PIN from the list. There's no word on whether or not Family Link will work on iOS devices, but we suspect that it will.

Can I use Family Link on my child's iPhone?

Is it possible to use Family Link on my child's iPhone? If your iPhone was set up to be a Family Sharing family and the original Family Share the App plan is still active, you can continue to share content with friends in that same family. If the original plan has been removed from the active Family Group and you continue to have an active App and Apple ID for this family, then you can sign your child into his or her original Family Sharing family with the original Apple ID and download updates from that family and have access to everything he or she has shared with that family. However, if you are no longer within that Family Group, you can't share any content (photos, videos, music, and/or apps) through your child's phone, or from that phone at all. Also, any content you were sharing on that iPhone cannot be synced with your child's device using iTunes or iCloud.

When you initially set up Family Link, you were given instructions on how to share content on your child's iPhone via Family Link, but if you don't know how to do it, here's a guide to setting up Family Link on your child's iPhone so you can still access all of that information. To learn more about what you can share with the Family Group you have connected your child to using Family Link, see Use Family Link when Connecting to Family.

Apple is trying to help kids stay safe from cyberbullying and other threats, so we've built Family Links to help them protect themselves. We want children to connect with their family that's a core part of being a kid. There are some features of Family Links that parents might not be aware of: You can download content, and change the security setting in the app, from the Family Link feature on your child's iPhone; you don't have to rely on the email address listed in the Family Sharing account; and you can access private messages sent via the Messages feature of the app.

The most important thing to know before you set up Family Link for the first time is to check that your child's Apple ID and iCloud email address are still associated with Family Link on your account. If they are, you can still use it and your child's content will still be available.

Does Google Family Link work for children over the age of 13?

Yes, Family Link can be used to transfer data from your child's phone to a new phone. It works on iPhones up to 12th generation models as well as all the newer devices, including iPhone XS and XR. Please note that you must use the Google account linked to your Android device. Google will ask you if you want to set up a new Google account.

If you don't already have one, simply open up the Google Play Store and log in with the same Google account that is linked to your child's Android device. Signing into the Play Store will take you back to your device's home screen. From there, you can sign into the family link app and create a family account.

Your child's Google account will be associated with the family account. The family account will be linked to your family name on Google. The name of the family account is shown next to your contact photo on Google Maps. You can access this information by opening Google Maps, tapping the profile icon in the top right corner, selecting Who is this person? and checking the Show my info box to see who your family is.

For more information about how to install a new device with Google Family Link or how to update an existing family member to a new device, please refer to the Family Link Guide.
