What devices are good for streaming?
I'm thinking of going to a place that has free WiFi for laptops, and then streaming my laptop's desktop to there.
This way I won't have to lug around all my video games and stuff when I go to a friend's house. Are there any devices out there that are good for this purpose?
I don't think streaming to others' homes should be done with devices. You can get a lot of functionality from a tablet, and if you have an app on your phone, you could probably stream to multiple machines.
That being said, a good enough laptop is better than a non-HDMV player for a lot of people (myself included). If you're only using the device for streaming, HD quality is more important than raw video quality.
I wouldn't try to do this over WiFi without at least two PCs/smartphones/tablets. Even at 3G I'd say it's not good.
It's really best done by physically hooking the devices into one another. If you're planning to take away your equipment, consider putting it on a charger.
If your connection to the internet isn't fast enough to play HD, then you may not be able to take advantage of the full potential of your high-end laptop. The only reason I'd be able to watch a movie on my TV from my laptop would be to watch while traveling or when I was not in my house. Otherwise, I'd rather save my battery and have my own home theater.

83 point of having a separate "movies" category? You can sort by more than one category (which is the default behavior), and you can set up as many categories as you want. If you don't want to manually change the default category every time you create a new movie, you can use the "Movies" category and sort by all three of them. Just select the "Movies" category in the header (this will show up in the drop-down when you start to type in a new title) and then in the "Category" box at the bottom left corner you can select "All" from the pull-down menu.
