Why is Signal not working on iPhone?

My signal meter on iPhone indicates only 2 bars of connection, but I have 5 bars of signal on my router.

Could it be that I am too far from the router? If the phone is showing 2 bars, then it means your phone is probably at a high enough distance that it's not picking up the signal from your router. You might not be very far away from the router, but you could be at a distance where the signal is much weaker and the phone just has trouble getting a clear picture. Try moving closer to the router or use the iPhone app Signal which tells you if you are in a strong or weak signal area.

Why is my Signal QR code not working?

Hey guys so I have this issue I tried the QR code thing, where the phone will scan and then the app should open up from the saved account.

But that's not happening. The app is able to do its thing but its just redirecting me to a screen where its telling me to put in the code, nothing else. My phone (samsung galaxy J6) is only recently updated with Android Pie 9.0.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have tried clearing data and it still doesn't work. It only works for some of my accounts and not all of them, sometimes it works for one while another still doesn't. My phone (samsung galaxy J6) is only recently updated with Android Pie 9.

I would check and make sure everything is spelled correctly and make sure the name is correct. There are some settings that might need to be entered manually. This way it will work no matter what you put in. Sometimes this can cause problems as well so make sure you have this on under each account.

Why don't you use the web API instead? There is a nice simple SDK and it's free. No scanning required and you will get the same results, even if the scanner isn't available.

There's also an Android App available here for it. Thanks for your response guys. Is there anyway I can enable QR Scanning or do I need to download a specific version of my app? I used to have a desktop app that had that feature but now it doesnt anymore. So do I need to download this android version? Will it be able to open the App based on what I already saved?

Why are my Signal notifications not working on my iPhone?

I'm the first to admit I don't follow the news on a daily basis.

What makes me even more surprised is that I signed up for Signal because it's advertised as an app with "no third parties" and "always on".

Yet I can not receive notifications when somebody is trying to connect to my Signal account on my iPhone. It says "connecting" and just sits there for hours and sometimes days, then I get an alert telling me that a new message has arrived. But notification?
It's been months and I was hoping that they had solved this issue. But it's not possible to connect to Signal from iPhone.

The issue has to do with the way that Signal works on the web and their Mobile apps, not any problem on your phone. Signal requires an active internet connection for some of their features to work, like your notifications. This is why you can't connect in your phone. In order to work, you have to go through the web app and use that to access your Signal account, and then turn on notifications in your settings.

When you do this, your phone will not be connected at all to the internet (even if it says it's connected). So to be able to receive notification your phone has to be switched on and connected to your internet at least once. I think it's what people mean when they say "every time your phone is online" and even when they say "online and syncing". If you don't connect once, then the phone won't be able to receive any notifications.

If you know in advance that you are going to leave your phone somewhere and you won't have access to your internet, then you could turn off notifications in the web app or just turn off automatic syncing. I think that the former is the better solution, but the latter can be used if you're planning on turning off your phone without ever being connected to the internet.
