Is Comodo free good?
I am a long time user of Comodo and love it but have been hearing mixed reviews lately about the free version of Comodo.
This is what I heard: 1) My site crashed, I think it was the free version. 2) This does not allow you to install a plugin. 3) The trial starts on the 1st day of usage. 4) It has no functionality for backups. It looks like Comodo is a good product but I want to use the free version and if there are any limitations that are not obvious that would be a dealbreaker. 1) My site crashed, I think it was the free version. 2) This does not allow you to install a plugin. 3) The trial starts on the 1st day of usage. 4) It has no functionality for backups. This sounds like you are trying to use a beta program, something you could expect a vendor to provide. This is not the way Comodo releases programs. They will release a stable program with the first release date of the year. There are no changes made before the 1st of the year, meaning any beta programs have been done and this is not a new program. If you need a beta program, you should ask for one from them, it is not a good marketing tool and may not work well as advertised.
You should also know that Comodo will never release a free version. They are a business, if they do not have a revenue model in place, they will not be able to sustain a product. This is a common thing for free products to do, a free version is often a "Try it and see if you like it" program.
Also, the free version does have backup functionality, it is just not very complete. When I say it works, it means it will keep track of what files are already being backed up and if you have the paid version, it will do a file restore from it.
Does Comodo still have a free firewall?
I'm a Windows guy and have been running Comodo for years.
I was using it for a long time, but recently I found the version I've been using is no longer free. Does anyone know if the new version will be free?

What if I do not want to buy the Comodo license? The Comodo Security software is free for personal use, but you need to have a license to run it on more than 1 computer. If you want to run it on more than one computer, you need to purchase a license.
What happens when my license expires? If you stop using the Comodo firewall after your license expires, you will lose the ability to use it. How does the license work? Does Comodo have a free version?
I always assumed they did, but
Couldn't find any evidence of that.
joshstrange. I was told by someone at Comodo to go with their free version, it might have. Been a while ago now but I'm pretty sure they do. The only problem is they don't let you disable the "free" version. You can still run the actual "Anti-Virus Free Edition" (the original name) without installing it but they. Can see your activity. Nathanaldensr. Can you clarify how you go about disabling it? I'd like to see a step-by-step. Example. Step 1: Open command prompt. Step 2: Type "reg query HKEYLOCALMACHINESoftwareCOMODOAntivirus. FreeEdition". Step 3: Select the value you want to edit in the top window and hit Edit. Step 4: Click on the little down arrow next to a value that looks like. HKEYLOCALMACHINESoftwareCOMODOAntivirus FreeEditionDisable and hit. Step 5: Type a value that doesn't exist and hit Enter. Step 6: Restart your computer. Done. Thanks for the info. It looks like it's been a while since I was on their site, and I haven't played around with their registry values in years. -----. Tannhaeuser. It's a typical case of the more expensive the product, the less effort they. Make to provide a good service. The best AV products out there are also relatively cheap. I think that a major reason why Symantec and McAfee are struggling is because they use their monopolistic position on the market to. Extort more money out of their customers. I'm a long time Comodo user, and I don't have to deal with those companies at all - I just download their product. From the official website. Doesn't make sense that a monopolist would charge less for a poor service. Though, that's what monopoly power is about.
What is the best free firewall?
I am looking for a free firewall for my Windows 7 PC.
I have a modem connected to the computer with a wireless router, and a wireless keyboard and mouse, but it would be nice if I could connect them to the internet as well. The modem is connected directly to the router with ethernet cable. What should I use to set this up? I have the Linksys WUSB54GC wireless USB adapter, which I've tried to install drivers for, but I keep getting an error message. Any suggestions?
