Does muscle scraping get rid of knots?

I know that most of you will never do any type of exercise.

and for all the others that really do exercises to enhance their bodies. Let's go over this:
scraping your muscles with a knife or razor or something else on the right days gets rid of the knots. you can scrape the muscles, just as you can clean them with a cleaning fluid. But you have to do it on the right days -the right days means doing it in sync with your "cleaning schedule" in which you will use the proper cleaning fluids, depending on what cleaning materials you decide to use. I do it when I feel a knot is coming up in my abs (im doing abs today, and it makes me look more toned down because the whole thing is really small) so if its a very tight one. I usually just slice it really thin Originally Posted by Maela. Yes, you could say you could use a scrub brush instead of a knife, but if a knot is in there it would be very hard to cut through. It might look nicer looking or something, but there are plenty of guys who do crunches and I have seen those not so pretty ones.

In my personal opinion the best way to get rid of muscular knots without having to scrape it, is just to train like hell. Scratching doesn't hurt but it doesnt do anything either.

This is why you have to focus more on the fact that after stretching you should do cardio to make your muscles loose and stretchy. You dont have to stop with a specific program. Every body has a different response.

Scraping is not usually bad for the skin. In fact most people actually like to be scraped. Scraping is done to get rid of painful areas on the skin. Usually gout, or other forms of arthritis causes such painful areas.

In your case, I would ask the general questions regarding arthritis first. Then if you are having more serious symptoms, then ask about scraping. But it is very important to stop doing scraping when you start to feel worse and talk to your doctor about that.

This seems to be something that was popularized by Dr. Priti Patel of the Mayo Clinic. As with anything new I have to remind myself to look at the research before I use it. In some ways it works well but there are risks involved.

Gout is not normal - it is an inflammatory condition that may affect any joint. Pain from an inflamed joint can be relieved with a variety of medications including gout flares. If you suspect gout you need to have a comprehensive work-up to rule out other conditions.

The only purpose of scraping is to remove the urate crystals that are responsible for the severe pain. Arthritis, especially of the knees, is painful because the synovium becomes swollen and inflamed. The inflammation itself causes the joint to be swollen. The scraping is a temporary treatment to relieve the swelling.
