How do I install the screen time app?

What is the parent app that controls screen time?

I want to be able to tell my children that if they can't find a way to change their own screen time, it's on me.

The Parent App would be a good start but if your kids are going to be spending a lot of time on devices and computers, then it should really be the family's (or other) shared device. It sounds like you're looking for a parenting device, which is a product that parents can use to monitor or control their children's usage. I think that would be the ideal solution for you and your family.

For example, the Family Time app does exactly what you're looking for. You can even set daily and weekly limits for each of your kids!

Is there an app to control screen time?

Is there an app or website that can control screen time?

When you first look at the website it seems like an app, but the homepage says is all about online safety and helping keep kids safe. I'm not really sure how to take a website and transform it into an app. I would appreciate any help or suggestion!

I'm assuming you have a kid under 8 or are willing to give them access to an iPad/smartphone? As you look at the website they show pictures of kids going on a boat and fishing, and they talk about their program as "keeping kids off screens". So for example in the app you need to tell your kid "Don't play on your phone for the next 20 minutes. Or "Go on our website once every hour for games or music", whatever their interest is. Then they can use their iPhone. The website might have a section where you can look at kid stats and stuff like that. Once a week you need to go back on the website or set up a reminder on your phone to remind your kid to log onto it. Maybe you send a message to them from the website saying something like: "Mom, do this." I can see this being expensive but you can probably set the website up so that the more you use it, the more you get for free. If you go to the section "About", you can make a custom "tutorial" for your child. In this tutorial you can describe who you are and what you're going to teach them about the app. For example you could say, "When you use it for five minutes at bedtime, it will add a game of a few minutes to your timer. So you'll get ten minutes of gaming time."

I think this kind of program would best if you do some research on how kids are used to technology and learn best and how iPads and tablets affect their brains etc. And then when you get the money just pay it off with monthly payments. If it's not affordable yet you might want to look into a free "trial" version or something. I hope this helps a little bit!

I just found I actually have the ability to manage my child's phone usage via my computer (even on the school network!), thanks to parental controls. So there is an existing solution to allow control over that function.

How do I install the screen time app?

I got screen time app and I think it's awesome!

When I open it, the message says that the application is not configured yet. But when I go to set an alarm for myself to take off work at 5pm, it doesn't take me to my calendar to set it. I'm using a nexus 6p with a brand new CyanogenMod 13.

That's weird, because when I installed it on my S7 Edge, it popped up a list of all of my apps and suggested some alternatives to choose from. Since I don't have any other apps in my list besides screen time, I'd expect it to suggest I install it. But instead, it's just asking me to set a passcode.

Maybe that's because you didn't turn on the screen time option in the app's settings? No, that's just the initial setup. It's not actually doing anything in the background. It was doing something when I took it off of my phone at 4pm, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything after that. I assume it'll eventually make the alarm go off. Maybe it's some sort of bug with CyanogenMod 13.

Okay, so I tried installing it again, but this time I disabled my password (which was what prompted the error message), but it still doesn't let me set the alarm. Do I need to do something else in order to be able to set the alarm? That's odd. Can you try disabling the screen time option in the app's settings? That should get it to forget the passcode.

EDIT: In case anyone wants to try it, this is how you do it: It works! I just made an appointment for 7am tomorrow, but it only asked me for a passcode once and then that's it. I guess I'll leave the app on all night so it can keep monitoring my activity.

If I enable the app in the notification settings, will it automatically start monitoring my activity after I turn it on? Or does it have to be enabled manually? I've found that enabling it in the notification settings doesn't always start the monitoring right away, but it's definitely better than not having it.

Can my child delete screen time app?

You might have heard of the new Deletion Timer for kids to put their phones on when it comes to the app store.

The theory behind this new feature is to make sure that your kids are not deleting important apps. Here is a screenshot of the app: How to delete the app. Go to the Settings of your iPhone and then go to the General section. Tap on Trust to confirm your decision to delete the app. After you have deleted the app, your child will not know what happens if he deletes an app. Also, the app is not working like the feature, so there is no point in deleting it.
