What is a secure DNS for blocked sites?
I would like to block access to certain domains on my home network.
The domain names are all blocked by my ISP. The problem is that I do not want to block the entire subnet and just want to block a specific domain name (eg I want to block ). Is there a way to set up a DNS server to only block this one domain?
This is probably going to be a long and/or confusing answer. If you're using a router, you can use OpenDNS. They have a free service that's great for blocking access to sites that you don't want your kids or grandchildren to be able to access. It works with a DNS server that's available on the router (often in the form of DD-WRT firmware).
If you're on an Internet-only connection, then you can use a DNS server that only allows you to block a specific domain. I've used OpenDNS's free service and it works fine.
Or, you can run your own DNS server. The most popular free service for this is dnsmasq, which is based on the BIND DNS server, and allows you to provide a list of domain names to block. If you're using OpenWRT, you can also use the in-kernel OpenDNS server that's installed by default.
If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, then there's a commercial DNS server that does this for you. There are also a few commercial solutions that do this for you. One of these is DNSCheck.
If you have an ISDN line, then you can also use that for blocked sites. However, if your ISP doesn't give you a static IP address, then you'll have to use a dynamic DNS service such as no-ip. If your ISP gives you a static IP, you can just run OpenDNS on your modem.
As far as I know, there's no DNS server that supports exactly what you want to do. Yes, and I'm still hoping for a solution. I think I'll just get an ad-hoc wireless router and do this myself.
How do I open blocked sites on DNS?
In my research of Internet security, I have discovered that there are some websites that I can not access, even if I have a free internet connection.
In fact, I can not access them with anything, whether it is a PC, or my phone, or my laptop. I am new to this topic, and I do not know the technical terms for what I am looking for, so this question may be a little hard to answer.
If you have a friend, family member, or a coworker, that has a blocked website, how can you get past that? I have tried everything, but nothing works. It seems as though the site blocks the browser. How do I bypass the blocked website? I want to get past the website and browse the internet.
Do not block DNS. I've seen many people who block DNS, and then they cannot get past certain websites and they assume it's because DNS. But in my experience, it is usually the site itself, and not DNS.
Thanks, but I am not sure what that means. DNS stands for domain name server. There are 3 DNS servers at different levels in the Internet. The DNS server at your router, the DNS server at the ISP, and the DNS server that points to the website you want to access. If you were to change the DNS servers that point to the website, you could possibly get past the blocked website. But since you asked about the website being blocked on DNS, I don't think that's what you want to know. I just wanted to let you know that you can't access the blocked website from your DNS. You need to change the DNS servers that point to the website. So if you have no clue what DNS servers are, or what they do, I don't think that will help you.
Can you post your router's IP address, your ISP's IP address, and the website's IP address?
Does 1.1 1.1 unblock websites?
Hi, I am wondering if I open 1.
1 on my computer (I have it installed) will it cause websites to be unblocked? Does 1.1 unblock websites? Or is it only a VPN or proxy?
Thanks. Hi, I am wondering if I open 1.1 on my computer (I have it installed) will it cause websites to be unblocked? It works like a proxy, so you would be able to unblock websites via the TOR network.1 on my computer (I have it installed) will it cause websites to be unblocked? If you have 1.1 installed it will not block anything. It just hides your IP address.
You're looking for a VPN service. The reason people have problems accessing websites is because they don't want to use a VPN service, and you're not telling us why you want to do this.
What is it you are trying to do? You can use any browser at all to visit the web anonymously. Please provide more information about your situation and what you are trying to accomplish. Thanks for the reply. I am trying to look at some of my work I have done on my cell phone with this laptop. But I have been blocked before by other sites. I was just wondering if 1.1 unblocks websites. I am sure there is a good reason I am being blocked by sites.
1 unbloacks websites. It is a VPN or proxy that hides your real IP address.
There is a reason you are blocked by some websites. Some websites block a certain country and don't allow access from that country. Some websites block certain devices.
How do I access blocked websites on Android?
I would like to disable certain websites that may be blocked on my android mobile.
I use Google Chrome for mobile. However, if I go to another browser such as Firefox or opera mini, it works fine.
How can I get around this? If I use Dolphin Browser for example, it is not working either. And if I use the same Dolphin, I get an error.
How can I fix this? I only want to use one browser at a time. When I'm in Opera mini, then type chrome://settings/privacy and press enter. It will open up Google's settings. I do not know which one is blocked. And I have to close it.
Thank you for any help, I appreciate it. Try removing your DNS settings.
