Why is my iPhone saying cannot verify my phone number?
My iPhone 6 can't verify my phone number or mobile phone.
It keeps saying that the 'mobile' network or a SIM cannot be verified, as it doesn't have a mobile network. However I do have a mobile phone which is a cheap prepaid phone. I tried everything from turning it off and on, to restarting, to changing the network and even tried installing new apps as recommended by other users. Still the same problem. What's the matter? Am I not given a mobile network to use with my phone?
I think you have a SIM card that has expired. Or the sim card has been removed. You should contact your carrier to see if this is what is going on.
As for your question I don't believe this can be reproduced, as it is a different issue with your SIM card having expired or being removed. I have no idea how old your SIM card is, but it's always best to replace the card, unless it works.
Why does Apple say my phone number is already in use?
I went to update Apple's Find my iPhone system on my two iPhones.
I was on the last page where it says You will be notified via email if your recovery is completed, and you will have to set up the information again.
The button says that my phone number isn't registered because it's in use. I've got more than one carrier, and every one of them has that number associated with it. I've looked for an entry for the number all over in all of the various iCloud/Apple databases, but couldn't find one. I also used a Google search, and got hits about this exact problem.
Can I fix this from here? Is there any real risk here that I can't live with, since I won't lose any data? What does in use actually mean? (If I'm posting this wrong way, please feel free to rephrase and clarify.) It seems like the 'in use' term has been removed from their web sites. You may be able to fix this from within the appit sounds like there's an option inside the app to change the number. The 'My Recovery Key' option should allow you to change the number to a new number as a last ditch effort.
However, it's entirely possible that the only way to completely remove the old phone number permanently is to change the sim number, so if you do that you'll need to either have the old one in case something happens to the new sim or just leave it with no backup plan to get to the phone. Well, the fact that I didn't actually lose data is good, right? I'll try changing my sim card number in case anything breaks and see if the phone can now be reset to my new number. Thanks for clarifying! Thanks for the feedback.
What does it mean this phone number Cannot be used for verification?
What is my phone number.
How does my phone number appear when verifying? What is this phone number? What is the number shown on caller I.D. Why can't it be verified? Can it be used for verification? Will it be used for verification if it is displayed as 913-456-7890? This number is showing on my caller ID whenver it calls. It has no message attached but the contact name on my phone is "carmen" and "carmen " will be the name displayed on the display. Do I have to set it up?
A telephone number cannot be used for verifying an identity. If someone dials a phone number, their telephone provider will show a caller ID screen with that phone number.
If someone says they call you using a phone number, verify this by sending them a text message from your cell phone or your work phone asking if they can tell you what the phone number is. If they say they call from a cell phone in their pocket, verify this by calling the provided cell phone or using their cell phone bill to see who that was actually called from. If they say they call from their cell phone on their desk at work, confirm their identity by seeing their work badge, or talking to them at their office. Caller ID should not be trusted because it is faked by some people. If you call another person, have them call you back. Do not trust their caller ID. Some individuals may provide correct information on their phone system's Caller ID to make it look like it's them who has called you, and others may provide incorrect information to make it look like it's not them calling you.
The only people who can help you to determine if this information is legitimate are the persons to whom the call is being made from. Caller ID usually displays the name and telephone number of the person making the call, however this is only the case if the call came from a landline phone. There are many places where Caller ID is not used. However, a telephone number will often not tell you anything about a telephone number without additional information such as an attached message. One such example of a misleading telephone number is "555 123-4567". Unless it's a premium service number, it isn't clear that the telephone number means anything.
