Do football academy players get paid in Nigeria?

I think we all know that in Europe, football academies can have players who are paid a substantial amount of money.

This has always been the case and I don't think it's any different for young footballers in Nigeria. I think it's very important to mention that the academies in Europe are managed by major clubs. They are well known and they have the money to pay their players.

Why is it that when a Nigerian player goes to Europe, he finds it difficult to get a contract? For example, I heard that there was an academy that produced some players who went to the U.S. And Canada and they were paid millions of dollars to play. Now, this doesn't mean that every Nigerian football player will go to Europe. But it does mean that, if you want to get paid to play in Europe, you better be one of the chosen few.

It is very sad that if you ask a Nigerian football player about his academy, he won't even tell you where it is. In Europe, when you ask a football player about his academy, he will tell you that it is one of the best in the world. If you ask a Nigerian football player about his academy, he will say that he is one of the best in the world. He won't be telling you that he came from the best in Nigeria.

So why is it that when you go to Europe, you find it difficult to get a contract? I believe this is because of the fear of not being paid. I know that there are agents who are always looking for new football players to represent. When they see a Nigerian who is willing to play in Europe, they will send them to the clubs who are willing to pay.

I have worked with a lot of players and I can tell you that they are not only willing to play, but they are also ready to work. But they need money to live. Even though they are very good players, they are not making as much as they should be. I know for a fact that they are working hard and I'm sure they are good players. But I've heard stories of players who were promised contracts but they never got them. They would be playing with the club, but they wouldn't be paid.

I also know that when you go to Europe, there is the fear of not getting paid.

Have Nigeria and Super Eagles players been cleared by CAF?

Nigeria football team has been cleared to play the Africa cup of nations after their participation in the ongoing 2026 Africa cup of nations was sanctioned by continental football's governing body, caf.

While confirming that there are no new bans against any Nigeria team, CAF clarified that the current list of banned teams has been updated as follows: CAF General Assembly's (CAF GA) decision on the suspension and subsequent ban of Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) and the Gabonese federation are still applicable. In addition, teams from Senegal, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia and Guinea, which participated in the 2026 Africa cup of nations, have also been suspended.

The team has now been cleared to participate in the tournament with Nigeria being the defending champions. What is the ban of Cameroon and Gabon? CAF's decision not to accept Cameroon's and Gabon's request to lift the suspension from Nigeria's participation in the tournament. The decision was made based on the reasons that the teams were not given due hearing on the decision by the disciplinary committee at the time.

As a result of CAF GA's decision, the suspension was imposed on both teams which also meant they can't participate in this year's Africa cup of nations. In addition to that, CAF GA has given a clear warning that, A failure by a team to show up in a venue without prior notification to CAF or any CAF member association will constitute as an automatic ban. CAF GA has banned six countries namely Senegal, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia and Guinea for participating in the latest edition of the continent's football tournament. The decision came after CAF GA found out that three of the countries namely Senegal, Egypt and Morocco had sent teams which had participated in the last edition of the Africa cup of nations.

How many football leagues are there in Nigeria?

In the past four years Nigeria has had the same national championship: The Federation Cup.

The next year was an awful season. After three rounds the top 2 A & B teams went head-to-head, winning promotion to the FA Cup. They remained in this level for a further six months until the league was cancelled.

My idea was put on hold until the 2026 season where I was asked to bring the league back. However I wanted something different this time round.

This would not be some regional knock-out or relegation or promotion from the league above but a true nationwide league with a nationwide league trophy. The name I gave the league, the West-South Football League, is not perfect. In fact it sounds so dull and uninspiring that I might just start the league all over again, adding extra letters to its name to make it sound vaguely more exciting.

The final problem was who would run the league. The FA is not the organisation you would go to for advice on how to run your own league. It doesn't help either that their rules aren't too helpful and make me sound like some kind of amateurish pirate in a TV series about World War 2.
