What happens after 10 failed restriction passcode attempts on iPhone?
The iPhone will automatically set to the lock mode.
It is likely to remain locked for at least one day before you are able to use the phone. (See iPhone Restriction).
On Android, it just displays message to the effect of The iPhone entered restriction mode. It will not lock the phone on Android.
If I use iCloud Tethering, will my Apple ID get restricted? As long as iCloud Tethering has not been turned off, the Apple ID stored on your iPhone will get locked. Even when iCloud Tethering is turned off, the Apple ID will be protected as long as it is turned on.
With iOS 10, we can use a passcode to bypass the 10 invalid attempts. For security reasons, Apple requires users to turn off iCloud Tethering after 4 failed login attempts. However, this may mean the iPad cannot access iCloud data or backup files via Wi-Fi.e. You will have to disable auto-setup before you can connect the iPad with an Apple TV, so you have to set up the Wi-Fi setup manually (see Wi-Fi configuration).
In iTunes 12 and later, you can now search the content on any device that is on the same Wi-Fi network as your PC by using the smart device or computer option. Can I use my old SIM cards with the new iPhone model numbers? To activate the iPhone with new SIM card in the US market, the first step is to register a SIM card with US carrier. The SIM registration is valid for six months. However, as you can add more than one SIM card on the phone, the SIM status will expire before 6 months, even if the SIM is still valid for one week. Therefore, you will need to complete the SIM registration before the expiration date.
After the phone is SIM unlocked, you can use the second SIM card for calls or SMS messages only (you should remove the first SIM card). In the EU or Asia markets, SIM cards can be used without carrier registration.
How to remove unwanted apps, such as Google Play? Apple iPhone and iPod touch users can uninstall apps directly via App Store and iPad app store. To remove the unwanted app, tap the app icon, and then tap More -> Delete. On an iPod touch, go to Settings -> General -> Applications.
How many failed passcode attempts on iPhone restrictions?
I bought an iPhone 5c, unlocked in Hong Kong (China) with the model number "D894LL/A". My AT&T SIM was working on this phone. I got my device in the US and a second SIM was not working on this phone because of restrictions.
I took it back to the store, the guy explained the "restrictions" like not being able to switch to other carriers. Also he mentioned about the lost data if I take out the battery. I told him I want to go with iPhone 6 but he said the new model is not available now.
Then I asked him what's the solution for people who live in China or Hong Kong and unlocked the phone? He said they can't provide any support. What should I do? Should I take it to apple repair? How many failed passcode attempts will be considered as "lost data" by the carrier if I change carriers later? I have purchased 4 iPhones between 2012-2014 from different online stores. The SIM cards in the phones used to work fine with AT&T until 2024 when the iPhone 6 was released.
AT&T blocked my SIM card after I used the SIM card for a couple of weeks on the iPhone 6, and I switched to T-Mobile. I went to AT&T to change my SIM card back, but the representative refused to do that. I told him that I can't use the SIM card in another carrier because AT&T will reject it.
The AT&T representative told me that AT&T is not responsible for blocking the SIM card and that AT&T doesn't care if you are using a SIM card on a different carrier. Also the AT&T representative said that I should not switch to another carrier as that could erase all the data on the phone. He said that I could buy a new phone and he would transfer the data to the new phone.
He refused to help me and he recommended me to go to the Apple Store. I called the AT&T store and they told me to call the Apple Store. Should I go to the Apple Store or the AT&T store? Is it possible to unlock iPhone 6s even if the phone was purchased before iPhone 6s was released?
How do I reset my iPhone if I forgot my restrictions passcode?
Forgot the passcode?
If you have lost your passcode and can't remember it, you can still unlock your phone and set up new restrictions, using Settings. Reset to factory settings. If you're a new iPhone user who has only recently set up your device, there's a very easy way to restore your phone to its original state. You'll need to get the SIM card out of the phone, but it's quite easy to do so.
Put the SIM card in another phone and you'll be able to use iTunes to restore your device. To reset your phone with your current passcode, make sure you don't have any files on your phone that you want to save (such as a music or a photo library), then press the Home button on your iPhone until you see the Apple logo appear at the top of the screen. Tap Settings to open the Settings screen, then tap General. Scroll down to Reset and tap it. You'll be asked if you want to Reset all your data, including email, App Store, and iCloud settings, or just your settings. Make sure you choose the right one and tap Reset. Your device will be fully restored to its original factory settings.
Restore your data from iCloud. If you can't remember the passcode, then you'll be able to restore your iPhone via your iCloud account. This means you won't have to have the SIM card in the phone to do this.
Your iPhone will need to be connected to Wi-Fi and connected to a computer running iTunes. To begin, click on your profile name in the top-right corner of the iTunes window. This will open up your account details page, where you should see a link called Restore. Click it. This will display the option to restore from iCloud, as well as restoring from a backup you've made on your computer. Click the option to restore from iCloud. If everything is working correctly, you should be asked to type in your passcode, as usual. Then you'll be able to select your devices and choose when you want to restore to.
Restore from a backup. If you don't have an iCloud account or can't remember the passcode, you'll need to create a new backup of your iPhone before doing anything else. Connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC.
