Does Windows 7 allow Remote Desktop?
I am using Windows 7 and Windows Server 2024 R2 as my desktop and laptop respectively.
I am trying to use Remote Desktop Connection to be able to access the desktop remotely, however when I try to use it, all I get is a black screen with the message "Connection failed". If I use "File and printer sharing", it asks for a username and password for the server which it's not setup on. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? I was able to do it using Vista and Win7 on my desktop computer and I haven't had any problems with my laptop.
"Server" does not mean "Remote Desktop" per se. "Server" means it supports remote desktop capabilities, but it has nothing to do with Remote Desktop.
To connect to your server using Remote Desktop, you need to have Remote Desktop turned on in the Windows Control Panel (start, programs, administrative tools, Windows Remote Desktop). On the Run dialog, type winrm.exe //servername -U username and press enter. You should see a Remote Desktop Connection window appear on your desktop.
If you do this, you'll have to enter a username/password. To do that, open the Windows Control Panel (start, control panel, administrative tools), and on the "System" tab, select "User Accounts". Then right-click on the user you want to give remote access to, and select "Change User Account Control settings". Make sure that the checkbox "Allow this user to connect to this computer using Remote Desktop" is checked.

Step #1: Open the Amazon app on your mobile phone. Click on settings at the top right corner. Choose the security tab. After the sign in process, you will land on the server's Security page. Now, choose the security question you set up in Step #2. A pop-up will show two options: I forgot my password and I lost my password. Click on the second option and complete your password recovery.
Step #4: Sign in with your recovery key. Once you are done recovering your password, select the radio button titled as Sign in with your recovery key. Click on continue.
After sign in, go to your server management page. Step #5: Choose your user name and click on connect. Now you are asked to enter your AWS user name. You can also copy it from your login screen or search it using the search for my username link provided on the right. When you are done enter the password for your user. If you don't remember it, click on the Find my password button provided at the bottom of the page.
