How do I use free VPN on my Samsung?
We've just found this cool way to use free VPNs without having to worry about any possible data theft.
Simply by using it you allow the free app to download it from the official website and all your online activities will be protected. This app works with your regular Samsung device - no extra purchases required, so you can use your favourite free apps like any other. We also tested it ourselves, so if it works for you, please share in the comments!
Free VPN on Samsung. What do we need? You will need the official free VPN app on your smartphone or tablet (or a compatible laptop). If you don't have it, it's very easy to install it, just head to the Google Play store on your device and search for Free VPN. We recommend keeping this app installed on your device, as you won't be able to use your device to browse without an internet connection if you delete it.
When will it work? This is something you'll have to try by yourself. But according to us it works, at least for these 4 Android devices: Samsung Galaxy Tab E 10.1 - 2.6Ghz
Samsung Galaxy J7 2024 (2017 model). Samsung Galaxy A5 2024. Samsung Galaxy S9. We've tried it on Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G975F, model number: SPH-L720) with Android 8.0 (API level 26). It worked flawlessly, so it probably works on many other Samsung devices as well.
There are only 5 official countries where you can use Free VPN on Samsung on the go, in total: USA, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands and the UK. However, we've found more servers in Asia, which makes it a bit easier to use when you're travelling to far away places. So if you plan to use Free VPN on Samsung while on a business trip, for instance, you might want to take it into consideration.
If your country is not on this list, then you probably won't be able to connect to the Free VPN servers for VPN connections.
Does Samsung have a built in VPN?
Do they have a free tier?
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and I keep forgetting about VPNs. It's like, who remembers to do stuff? Here are my needs: Unblock US Netflix in Spain. Protect myself against the NSA (and the FBI) spying on me. Protect myself against ISP-level censorship. Socially isolate me from my family and friends. Make it feel like I'm in a bunker underground that has no Internet connection. So I downloaded vtun and set it up on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. The first thing I needed to do was change default behavior of NetworkManager for WiFi/mobile networks. In the configuration wizard for NetworkManager, I unchecked Always. Under WiFi networks, if I select Automatic/Manual, then it auto-connects me to my Verizon phone network when I use mobile data (for which I pay the data charges).
The second thing I needed to do was configure the VPN client applet, as a system tray applet with vpnc. You do that by clicking the New Service button (the third one) from the system menu. There you set the network that it uses, the server to connect to, and so on. For a US VPN, I set the Network to VPN and the IP Address to 192.168.1, just the address of my OpenVPN box. For server, I used my router's IP address, and I set the port number of OpenVPN to 1194 (that's OpenVPN default port number, it won't be hardwired into the vpnc config file) and the cipher (I'll cover ciphers later). I also set some user info like my email and phone # to connect, and an extra user name I'd use on my network.
All that was left to do was go to System Settings and turn on VPN. Go to System Settings > Security > Network Connections and check the VPN to check its status. If it's not running, just click its button and select Start.
Now to protect against the government!
