How is my child bypassing iPhone Screen Time?

If you don't see the Screen Time icon on the lock screen or the top bar of your iPhone, your child might be bypassing it.

Even if you see the icon on the lock screen, your child might be bypassing it. When you set your own Screen Time, you can either have your child's device report to Apple that it has an allowance and is using it, or that it does not have an allowance and is not using it. If the Screen Time icon is present, your child's device will report to Apple that it has an allowance, and is using it. But if the icon isn't present, it means your child hasn't set an allowance, or isn't using it, so it won't report to Apple. This means your child might be getting more time than you think.

If you want to know how much time your child is getting, check to see if there's an icon on the lock screen, the top bar, or the side bar. If the icon is there, your child is using their allowance, so check your Screen Time to see how much allowance they're using. If the icon isn't there, but the Screen Time icon is on the lock screen, then your child has an allowance and is using it, and that's all you need to know.

If you want to see your child's total allowance, you can look at their Activity Summary, which you can access by tapping Settings > General > Activity Summary. If your child's device doesn't have an icon on the lock screen or the top bar, then they're either: Not setting an allowance for themselves. Not using their allowance. Why my child isn't using their Screen Time. There are many reasons why your child isn't using their Screen Time. The biggest reason is that they aren't setting an allowance for themselves.

Your child has an allowance, but they aren't using it. To figure out why, look at the Activity Summary. If the icon is there, your child has a limit on how much time they can spend on apps or games, and they're using it.

How do I guess my Screen Time password?

This will display the Screen Time page on the iPad. This is where you can see all of the apps that you've allowed to use Screen Time for the day and how many times they've been used. This will include background updates from the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, and iTunes. You'll also be able to see a history of the number of times your kids' iDevices were used.

You'll find the password on the following pages: For the iPhone/iPad. In-App Purchases in Settings. For Kids. For Parents. You should log in to Screen Time whenever you want to view the information. If you don't, you'll have to reset the password when you turn on your device or when you reinstall Screen Time.

From the Screen Time page, you can also view your kids' usage data. This includes information about the apps they used for the day, including which ones they used multiple times and how much time was spent playing those games.

See Figure 6-3. On the iPad, tap the Name of the Kid to view all of the apps he's allowed to use Screen Time for. If you're logged in as the parent, you'll see the history of the number of times the device has been used by the child.

## The Apps You Allow. The Apps You Allow list is where you choose what apps your kids are allowed to use. You can choose only one app per category. If you choose a new app, it appears on the list immediately, and if an app already exists, it will appear on the list with a note next to it, as shown in Figure 6-4.

Figure 6-4. This list of apps has been cleared and a new app has been added.

When you create or delete an app, the previous apps are automatically updated in the Apps You Allow list. ## In-App Purchases. You can turn in-app purchases on or off. When this setting is enabled, you can add money to your kid's Apple ID and then use that money to purchase things like virtual currency. Purchases are made from within the app.
