How do I block an application on Windows 11?
I understand how to block an application from the taskbar icon in Windows 10 (see picture below). But I was wondering if there is any way of doing it from the desktop or when clicking on an image file in Windows 11. Also, does Windows 11 give a notification when you receive a message? The desktop icon and taskbar icon options are new in Win10 -- Win8 has had this for years. This seems to be a direct continuation of that.
So "No, you can't" for Win8 (there's a method in the registry but it's not easily done by the average user) and "It depends on the application" for Win10 (you can see the list of registered applications here. There's ways of blocking them, but none that users are using/know.
Can you disable apps on Windows 11?
What's the Windows 11 experience like without apps?
I've been thinking about this, since I heard that Windows 11 will be pretty much like the Windows 10 experience without any apps. I was wondering, is this true? If so, how ? I tried searching for answer, but I couldn't find anything.
I'm asking for anyone who has installed Windows 11 and tried using the desktop with out apps to tell me if it's true or not. If they can't give a clear answer, then I'd like to know why. I'm not asking for someone to do a video of their experience. I just need to know if this is possible or not.
If your looking for a way to uninstall apps on Windows 11, the answer is simple. You can't. Windows 11 is built to work without an app. I don't know why they chose to go with this route, but it will be interesting to see how well it works when we have full blown Office 2024 for free. It won't be the same experience as Windows 10 with Office 2024.
You can't uninstall apps on Windows 11 because Windows doesn't work without apps. This has been true since Windows 7. If you don't want to use a third party tool to control apps, then you'll have to learn how to run without a single app. You can install many programs, but many will still run just fine without a program.
If you don't want an app, then you don't need an app. Most people don't actually use more than one app anyway. They usually just need one app to open a document. You could make a shortcut to an app and then delete it, but you could also just drag it into the Start menu, delete it there, and then remove the shortcut.
There are three ways to install apps: One is to drag a shortcut to the Start menu. You have to do this after you've logged in to Windows, because the program has to be able to access the Internet to download updates. This is how you get Chrome, IE, etc. Another is to use an installer for Windows. If you download a program from the Internet, it can create an installer. This installer might prompt you to allow it access to the Internet. This is how you get most programs, including Office 2024. The third way is to use the Microsoft Store.
