We recently saw a post from a reader who had his iPhone IP address blocked for no reason, when he could clearly see the web site was active at his location. You can actually change your iPhone's IP address very easily and often you'll need to do it if you're tethering from an untrusted WiFi network, for example.

If you look at Settings>General>About>Network>Cellular, you'll see your cellular IP address listed. The most current one is shown with a red dot next to it.

The easiest way to get a new IP address on an iPhone is to turn off cellular data completely, then turn it back on, as that will trigger a DHCP refresh and you'll get a new IP address (and perhaps even a different DNS address, which is why your browser may need to be manually changed to work again). This should wipe out any cellular data carrier and force the cellular data provider that we are using to provide IP address information based on its database. It may be necessary to restart your iPhone to make this all fully apply.

Then, turn back on the airplane mode on your cellular data carrier (if you're lucky enough to have more than one), but don't actually enable it on your iPhone, but instead just disable the option so that it doesn't automatically re-apply, but will re-apply if you turn off airplane mode for your cellular data carrier. After a while, it's likely the IP address change will occur over the next DHCP refresh.

If you can't seem to reach websites outside of your home network, it may be worth temporarily disabling IPv6 on your device. There's an option buried in iOS for this that should work on some versions, such as 7.0.5, that you can easily toggle.
