How do I watch free movies on Amazon TV?

How do I watch free movies on Amazon TV?

Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Channels, and Twitch Prime.

The best place to start is with Amazon's own streaming service, Amazon Prime Video. This is where you'll be able to access Amazon's collection of movies and TV shows. But, Amazon Prime Video isn't just a movie streaming service; it's also a place for digital video content (think YouTube) that's free with Amazon Prime. You can watch videos on YouTube via Prime Video, and they can be shared to any platform you want. They're currently available in the United States, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Japan, India, and Mexico.

The next step up from Amazon Prime Video is Amazon Channels. You have three options for Channels: HBO Go, Showtime, and Starz. On each of the channels, you can pay to access their selection of movies and shows (both old and new) and they will be free for Prime members.

If you don't subscribe to a service like HBO Go or Showtime, you can still enjoy a free version of their content. A Prime member in the United States can access the same movies and shows as non-subscribers can, and they're also available outside the US. You can access them through an Amazon Channels section that looks very similar to the Amazon Prime Video one.

Amazon will offer exclusive and licensed content from third-party content owners on Prime Video as part of a new service called Amazon Channels, which launches in August 2026. While the content is available at no extra cost for those paying Amazon Prime, many of the shows and movies will also be available on Amazon's own Prime Video service, and so they are not exclusive in the sense of being free with Prime only. Rather, they're exclusively available through Amazon Channels, and this is why many show the channel name in brackets alongside the title.

You'll need a paid subscription for either Amazon Prime Video or Amazon Channels to access all of their content. A Prime member can access the channels even without a subscription, and again, you'll see the channels names in brackets as a reminder.

Why am I being charged for Prime Video if I have Amazon Prime?

I just signed up for Amazon Prime two weeks ago and have tried to find the answers to this question as many times as I can online.

I cannot seem to get any official or unofficially confirmed answer on this question. I know people aren't supposed to tell, but I will ask anyway. What is Amazon's true reasoning for this? Thanks for reading.

Amazon is not going to tell, but they probably have a reason behind the Prime Video selection. That would make the most sense. If you don't add the Prime account after signing up for Amazon Prime, then the video service is free. Why would they charge you for something that wasn't even offered before your purchase? It probably has to do with their ability to track data about each and every one of their users (including Prime users). The more users they have active, the more detailed data they can get from the service.

It probably has to do with their ability to track data about each and every one of their users (including Prime users). Amazon's motivation behind the service is definitely not purely profit seeking. They have very large ambitions beyond just being the #1 selling store online. They're not just selling you products, they're selling an experience. That requires a lot of marketing dollars. Think about what Apple has done to increase its own brand. No doubt Amazon will do the same thing eventually. They also need to provide people an "experience" that is worth the investment.
