I am looking for a Netflix streaming alternative for my kids.

I would love to be able to play on the Firestick and use an app like Surfshark. They look promising on the surface. My issue is, I can not seem to find any way to make it work. I have read several places that it will work out of the box, but I don't know if there are any steps involved for the kids to get set up on the Firestick.

I have an Amazon Firestick and I was wondering if Surfshark will work out of the box? If you're familiar with Surfshark, can you please provide some directions or instructions to my Firestick. I've searched high and low for ways to get Surfshark working but nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance.

I would love to get this working and find an easy method to get my kids set up. We both would like the ability to watch on multiple devices, which would make things easier.

Make sure to connect to the internet on your WiFi network, because without it, Surfshark won't be able to establish an IP. It will work when connected to the internet, but it won't be very fast.

The reason it doesn't work through Wi-Fi out of the box is because Surfshark wants to keep the servers open for as long as possible. If a server dies, it needs to get back up quickly, but if you're outside and using Wi-Fi, you might not always be connected to the internet. This makes it difficult to monitor the server, and keep them running. There isn't much of a market for Surfshark yet, so they don't have servers available in your area, but once they're up and running, you should be able to get Surfshark working.

Your local wifi connection could be a non-standard SSID. You could use the command line tool Ibotta to detect other hotspots that might be SSIDs like "mywifi". Your FireStick could be SSID'd as "mywifi1", "mywifi2", or whatever. In other words, it should only have to deal with your FireStick SSID.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced the problem where the FireTV is not working with Netflix after connecting to a VPN?

We have a number of firestick's connected to our TV and are all experiencing this problem. The VPN tunnel has been disabled on the device, and it is still not working. I have searched the net to no avail.

This may be an issue with your firestick or vpn server. I'm having the same issue on my firestick. When I connect to a vpn server with a good internet speed, then stream on Netflix, then disconnect and go to the firetv home screen, Netflix will work fine. Once I close the vpn tunnel, the firetv no longer streams Netflix. Any ideas on how to fix this? I don't have any other streaming services working, but when I am on wifi and not vpn, the firetv works as expected.
