For some reason, I don't have the ability to access PIA VPN on my phone. Does anyone know why that might be? I do have the option to select and enable Hotspot Shield.

I am wondering if there is a setting somewhere in iOS where I can turn off the Turn VPN on for my hotspot checkbox that will disable the function? I believe in iOS8/9 it's located in the Cellular/Networking section. You can simply choose the VPN (that works best with your computer's network) and turn off the toggle switch. This should disable using your hotspot for VPN.

My suggestion is that you try turning your device completely off by turning it OFF, then re-powering it. If this is not working, you may need to update your iPhone and reset all data. Please take a backup of your data before doing this to ensure your information is saved.

This is an easy answer.

For this guide I am going to assume that you have setup and configured your VPN in my VyprVPN Client. Now, the first thing to do is turn it on. To do this open your VyprVPN Client and head to the settings icon at the top right hand corner. Then navigate to On / Off where you will find a check box titled VPN On. I recommend you leave this on unless you are using a device that does not allow you to turn your computer off while you are connected.

At this point we want to ensure that your iPhone knows you are connected to your VPN. If you are at home or work and you open up the wifi settings your phone will already know your wifi connection is secured.

We want to get rid of that so when you open your wifi you will see VyprVPN instead of the name of your access point/router. For this you are going to need the following information.

Your username and password (for your VyprVPN VPN account). Open the VyprVPN client on your iPhone. Select your VyprVPN username and password. If this information is correct you will be able to enter your username and password into the next screen and log into your network and your VyprVPN network will be listed. At this point you can select it and your settings will be listed in the next screen. From here you can select your location and any other options you wish to select.

At this point your iPhone should be using the network you selected in your vyprvpn client settings. You might notice on your device that a message pops up asking you to enter a username and password again. Don't worry this just means your device did not know if it was actually on the VPN until you entered your username and password. Now anytime you open your internet settings on your phone the VyprVPN server should be listed as a nearby network.

If your device tells you This network is insecure and you cannot connect from here then you have likely been disconnected from your VPN or the network will not recognize that you are connected and in turn won't allow you to select your VyprVPN. Check your settings again, but this time ensure that your username and password are entered correctly.
