What does it mean when WhatsApp says beta program is full?
As a beta tester of WhatsApp for iPhone and Android, I've been using it for about a year now.
There are several times that I've tried to open the app to find it full of friends, but I've never been able to get past the log-in screen. Is this really a sign that the service is about to launch? Or has it been full all along?
I guess I'll find out tonight when I try to login. Update: The beta is full. If you have an invitation, then congrats! (And good luck figuring out what everyone is talking about!) My guess is that it's full in relation to the number of invites. If the beta has a small number of invites, then they won't be able to accept any more invites. And if they're accepting invites, there's not a lot of space for new invites.
I hope that makes sense. If you haven't signed up for the beta yet, then good luck! I've had a hard time getting invited. Also, here's the latest update from WhatsApp: We want to make sure that we provide an awesome experience for the first wave of beta testers, and we want to make sure you get the most out of the app as we develop it. So for now we're going to say beta testing is full. We look forward to seeing you in the coming days and weeks.
@sirpaulg: It's full, but you can still participate as a beta tester. If you have an invite, great! @mikew: No worries, Mike. I'm not actually using it myself I'm just checking in to see what people are talking about. I'm just wondering if it's actually full, or if the invites are getting capped at a certain point. Either way, it's interesting to see the reaction that some people get when they hear it's full.
