In other words, TunnelBear is the best way to access blocked websites and web content from anywhere. How to Install TunnelBear on Android? TunnelBear is available to download on the Google Play Store. To install it, simply open the Google Play Store and search for 'TunnelBear'. You will then be able to install the app directly from the search results.
You can also download TunnelBear directly from the TunnelBear website. Open the TunnelBear website on your phone, tap the Download button, and select the APK file.
After downloading the file, you will need to navigate to your downloads folder to find the APK file. Once you've located it, tap the file and the installation process will begin.
When you have installed the app, open the app and tap the Login button to create a free account. Tap the Settings button to additional network servers to the VPN network.
The free version of the app comes with a limited number of servers and bandwidth. If you are unsure how much data you use online, you can always refer to the usage statistics in the settings screen.
To ensure that you do not exceed the amount of bandwidth allocated to your account, you can use TunnelBear's bandwidth management feature. You can view your monthly traffic allowance and adjust the speed limit if required.
TunnelBear has two types of servers to choose from. You can choose either Standard or Premium. Premium offers more flexibility in terms of servers, whereas Standard offers a basic number of servers.
If you are looking for speed and stability, Premium is the way to go.
Is TunnelBear safe on iPhone?
I purchased TunnelBear because it appeared to be the simplest and most reliable option for getting free secure VPN access on my iPhone.
It is available on iPhone, Windows, and Android, among others. I've been using TunnelBear in the cloud and at home to browse the web privately and have found it to be consistently reliable, though it definitely doesn't come close to the user experience I get with Opera VPN Plus. I do love that it works in many locations and has nice features like auto-reconnect, etc., but what have others experienced in terms of reliability?
A little bit of research reveals that TunnelBear is probably the safest VPN option for iPhones, which is great, since I'd like to have some privacy. But not being the most seasoned expert, I was intrigued by this: "If you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, there's absolutely no reason you need to be tied to your existing carrier," wrote TunnelBear in a statement to Fast Company. That statement seems misleading.
What do you guys think? Should I continue using TunnelBear on my iPhone?
Why is TunnelBear disconnecting?
To address a few of the comments that I have been receiving in response to a recent post where I mentioned TunnelBear has disconnected my mobile device from my network for an undisclosed length of time.
My concern is the use of this type of 'feature' on their devices is leading to the inability of users to connect and send/receive emails and documents, as the devices are unable to communicate with their networks. If anyone uses TunnelBear, please understand what may be happening to me and take action to fix your network connectivity before it shuts down your ability to send or receive data at anytime. This is a very serious security issue.
First off I am not with TunnelBear, which does state that the service is offered for free. This means that the company itself is a for profit business and by connecting your mobile device to their WiFi network as free I believe they are charging you monthly.95/month which is an extremely high price. If you want some alternatives, there are many different software companies who offer solutions similar to the service provided by TunnelBear. And all of these free providers are still charging you monthly for their product even after you are connected to their software (bypassing your Internet connection) .
In addition, and most notably, when your mobile device connects to the company's network, you lose access to all the data you were sending to and receiving from your network (including emails) for an undisclosed period of time while the tunneling works to get you back on the company's network, so you will likely be without the use of your mobile device for the entire amount of time it takes. This is a very big security concern because if the company fails to properly secure their network, there is no way to guarantee that the data your sending and receiving will remain safe from being taken by a third party once you leave the company's network.
I recently received the above message stating that the TunnelBear service was disabled by its system and all devices currently connected would be disconnected from the TunnelBear network if it was used for a period of time, ie, if I stayed connected longer than 30 minutes. As far as I can tell they failed to make clear this security feature is used to keep your mobile device from accessing your own internal network while using their software.
