Do you ever require the use of gloves for safety reasons? We are well aware that many of our guests are not used to handling animals. If we're worried about a guest's safety, we'll ask them if they'd prefer to wear gloves. However, this is not an issue with our animals.
Is there any chance we might see wild boar or deer wandering on your property? We live in an area where wild boar and deer live, and we love to share their habitat with guests. However, we do have a special area where we don't allow our guests to feed the animals, and we also don't allow them to come into the kitchen while the chef is preparing food.
Are there ever any risks to your staff during their daily interaction with the animals? Yes. If guests are not being respectful, and if the animals are feeling threatened or agitated, we have a policy in which we will ask the guest to leave. The animals are very smart and we want them to feel comfortable with their environment.
What is the most unusual thing you've ever seen while working at Twin Farms? Many of our guests have been extremely creative and imaginative. We've had guests sing to the animals, play music for them, read them stories and even make them cookies.
Have there ever been any incidents with animals while you're working at the farm? There have been some close calls, but we are fortunate to have a very experienced team. All of our animals are carefully monitored and handled. We are in close communication with our animal care specialists. If animal does get hurt, it is dealt with quickly and humanely.
How do you keep the animals clean when you're not tending to them? We do our best to provide them with a place to rest and run free. If guests walk outside, we're aware that they can be trampled by our animals.

How many rooms does Twin Farms have?
The building, which comprises two floors and has one kitchen and five bedrooms, is home to a maximum of nine children and the father of two.
Twin Farms was designed for one purpose - to house a maximum of nine foster children and their carers. Since December 2026 the facility has been a temporary measure for 24 children taken in by the Department of Community Services after being deemed at risk of harm or suffering abuse or neglect. Twin Farms has been described by foster carers as "the nicest kids' homes" and in an inspection report, which was released by the department on Tuesday, Inspector Tania Macpherson describes Twin Farms as "a safe and secure environment". The inspectorate reported that the premises meets its housing standards, but added that improvements are needed. "The unit is clean and tidy, however areas such as the yard and communal spaces need a bit more attention," the report said. "While this inspection was being carried out, no issues with the food provision were raised by the resident carer or by the foster carers and the carers provided regular comments and were impressed by the cleanliness and order of the unit." The report goes on to say: "The carers reported that they have observed that children spend a lot of time outside, playing on the outdoor play area, and this would be a beneficial aspect for the children to play. "It was also noted that the children were happy and content." The inspection took place from December 13 to January 6. The inspectorate's report follows criticism from the government's own inspectors who said Twin Farms "is not fit for purpose" in an earlier report, released in November. The department's Inspectorate is also currently investigating the family's ability to care for nine children. The latest report has highlighted concerns about the number of carers the department can take in. On Tuesday the department announced it had agreed to cap the number of residents at nine after the inspectorate raised concerns about the number of carers they can provide. The inspectorate told the department that "in relation to the number of children that the department can take in, there is some concern and we would recommend that this be reviewed and further advice provided".
