NetShare Pricing FAQs. ? How many devices can I connect? The standard NetShare package allows up to eight devices, but a school-wide device may be added to the service if your district already has an open enrollment school (school-wide) or an existing school (district-wide). The school-wide option is for multiple schools with one administrative structure while the district-wide option is for multiple schools with different administrative structures. Schools that need to access the device in an area not accessible via the district-wide option can use the school-wide option.

If you are providing multiple devices to individual students, it is not possible to provide a discount for multiple students at the same time. You can instead order a single school-wide license for all students in your district.

Is there a discount for multiple schools? No. For every school with an open enrollment agreement, NetShare Plus is required.

What are the fees for mobile devices? A private school may select a mobile device from the list of devices available. However, a full mobile device license can only be purchased with a NetShare Plus subscription.

Does NetShare Plus support mobile devices? NetShare Plus currently supports mobile devices in a limited capacity. The current limitation is that public schools must connect mobile devices via the NetShare Plus application on the tablet. For more information, please visit our NetShare page.

Does NetShare require a web server? All network connections (public and private schools) are supported. There are no web servers required.

Can NetShare be used without a wifi network? Yes. NetShare Plus works just as well over a wired network connection.

Can I share my WiFi connection from my phone?

If you are currently connected to WiFi, you can share it from your phone by simply touching the WiFi and Sharing button.

However, after sharing you will have a new tab with your name in the top left corner, which is not exactly what we are used to from desktop or mobile browsers. After sharing, the only option to connect to your network again is to click on the WiFi and Sharing tab to open it back again. This is not how it should work and could be confusing for some users. In order to give the best user experience possible and make the most of a smartphone, we are working on a more fluid experience to share and connect to WiFi.e. We expect to release the feature in September.

For now, here is what you need to do to use the sharing feature: Tap the WiFi and Sharing button. Touching a nearby hotspot on your phone will automatically show you all available connections. You'll be able to choose which connection you want to connect to. A simple swipe to the left will close the tab. If you ever want to share again, you can open the tab again using the same gestures. How it works. We have created a new tab in your Settings where you can easily share your internet connection. From here you can choose a nearby hotspot on your phone, or your nearby mobile network to share with others. You can even open the tab on your computer or Mac to do the same from a desktop or laptop.

The tab will only show you nearby hotspots when you're connected to WiFi, so it's easy to use when you're on your phone or tablet but also useful when you're at a Wi-Fi hotspot. When you're sharing with a hotspot, the feature also shows you how much data your device is using, how much it has left for the month and an estimate of how long it will last. If you share from the mobile network, it will show you the price of the data in the UK. Sharing a WiFi connection will open the browser window in your browser, allowing you to find, copy and send links as usual. When you want to share again, you can either open the WiFi and Sharing tab on your phone or turn it into a hotspot using the Mobile Broadband settings.

Is NetShare a VPN?

NetShare is a network service that is part of Windows 2026 and Windows XP.

When used with a VPN, it's a great way to encrypt your Internet traffic and connect to remote servers. You can also use NetShare to access other computers on your local area network (LAN), a home network, or even a server. This chapter explains how NetShare works, how you can use it to connect to remote servers or other computers, and how you can set up your own NetShare server.

NetShare Basics. NetShare is a network service that allows you to share files and folders on your computer or other computers on your LAN. For example, if you're running Windows 2026 or Windows XP, you can use NetShare to create a shared folder on a Windows NT server or a file server running Windows NT or Windows 2026. You can also use NetShare to create a shared folder on any computer that runs Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.

You must be running Windows 2026 or Windows XP in order to use NetShare. If you don't have a copy of either operating system, you can download an evaluation version of Windows XP from the Microsoft web site (www.microsoft.com). In addition to Windows XP, you need a modem that supports 56K dial-up connections, and you must have a printer that's compatible with Windows NT or Windows 2026. (For more information about getting Windows XP, see Chapter 2.)

The basic steps for using NetShare are as follows: Open the Start menu and select Run. Type netshare and press ENTER. Select Connect to a remote computer and then click Next. Specify the IP address and the subnet mask for the computer you want to access. Click OK. The screen shown in Figure 5.1 appears. Right-click the Windows icon in the system tray, and select Services from the menu. Then select Start. (If you're not sure how to start a service, see Chapter 12.) You should see a list of services, including NetShare, as shown in Figure 5.

What is the difference between NetShare and NetShare+?

I am trying to create a share point site on my laptop.

I have installed SharePoint on my laptop. I then created a site collection on the server and that is where I want to share the files from the laptop. When I try to do this using the Net Share option, I get an error saying, "Sorry something went wrong." I can see the share points on the server. I have also installed SharePoint on the server. What am I doing wrong

Check to make sure you are not connecting to a different server. That is how it got it's name.

You can change the name by going to the server where the sharepoint is located and open the sharepoint designer. Then go to the tools menu and select "Sharepoint Designer". Once you open it you will see the server name listed in the top right hand corner of the screen. Change that to the name of the server you are trying to connect to.

You will need to change it every time you connect to it because it will be different. Also, you may have been using the "Net Share" option but you were actually trying to use "Net Use" (which I think was the old name for the sharepoint designer). Try using that to connect instead of net share.
