What does reset network settings do on Iphone?
I have an iphone 3g and I recently reset network settings.
Now when I try to use my phone as a wifi hotspot, it says "you can't do that on this device". I have a Macbook and a PC with wireless cards, and it is fine on both of those devices. I have had the phone for about a month.
There are no apps running in the background (even the browser). I have had this phone for a year and it has never worked like this before. Please help.
You need to restart the phone. Hold the power button for about 30 seconds, then release it. It will restart.
In the event you don't want to restart, you can turn off the phone and then turn it back on. In the event you want to restart the phone, you can't do it by holding down the power button, it will just turn on. You need to press and hold the power button and the home button at the same time for 30 seconds.
Try the reset again and if it doesn't work, turn off the phone, unplug it and then plug it back in. That might get it to work.
There is an app called "Restart" in the Apple Store that will reboot your phone. If you hold down the home and power buttons for 30 seconds it should restart.
There are times when I have used the reset network settings function on my iPhone and it worked fine. I think that the reason is that some apps are still running in the background, or some updates are pending.
How do I reset network settings on my Verizon phone?
I just changed my network settings a couple hours ago.
The only real option I had was to "restart data". This did work and my phone will no longer connect to any network other than 2G LTE, but I can't call or send/receive text messages. My SIM is still in the phone and everything else works fine. How do I get my 3G back?
2 Answers. First, make sure that you turned off the "Automatically accept offers" setting under Manage Access. After that, you should have to manually accept/select networks, just like you did before.
This may not work, though. You may be required to update to the new version (1.) which will require a "Restore" or "Reset Data" button after the update itself. Just go to settings/apps, find Google Play Services and launch it, then use the button at the top right. If you don't see the button, go to system/applications instead.
A restart might not work either. To restore a backup, you need to set the phone into "backup" mode for 5 minutes. Then, reboot to recovery (press and hold home then power) and wipe data from internal storage and SD card. This deletes both the old backup file as well as the current "active" backups. From this point, you'll be able to take care of updates via Google Play Store instead.
When I turn off WiFi and turn it on again, it seems that all settings go back to defaults. When I was browsing in Firefox with one WiFi AP selected, everything just reverted back to defaults even though it was listed in the list of available networks. What should I do about this?
I have an Acer Liquid E525 (running Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0) and a similar issue happened on it the day before yesterday (May 18). I just turn it off, then turn it on, and then the whole thing just gets back to default without any notification from Verizon wireless (a red notification bar with the words "Unconnected" shows up and says "Network connection is unavailable"). And it's like nothing has changed.
However, when I went into settings, "Connections" it showed all network names.
