Can Excel automatically pull data from a website?
I have a workbook with a lot of data. I need to pull the data from a website. Do you know of an Excel plugin or application that can do this for me? I prefer something open source as this isn't my company's software, and I don't want to have to explain how to install/use it everytime someone uses it.
You can use Google Documents List App from the Chrome Web Store, it is open source and works perfectly with spreadsheet like xlsx. If you do not like the Chrome Web Store, here are direct links to the apps: Google Apps Script: Spreadsheet: If you are using Office 365, you could simply use O365 Link from the Office Store, it will be similar to the Google Document List App but Office 365 Link is a paid app.
What is a web query in Excel?
In Excel, you can create a web query that lets you quickly obtain data from the web. The data can be in .csv, .txt, .xlsx, or .html format.
To create a web query, start by clicking in the cell where you want to insert the web query. You will see the Create Web Query dialog box, shown below: Figure 1: Create Web Query dialog box. When you click in the first field and begin to type, the top row of the web query will be populated with the data to be used. Each web query can have multiple sets of data.
Click the small arrow (shown in red) in the upper right corner of the field. You will then see that the current row is added to the data. Use the arrow to navigate from cell to cell, adding each row of data as needed. You can drag the row up or down to change the order in which the data is listed.
Figure 2: Additional rows added to web query. For example, in Figure 2, the web query was created to obtain the URL of a web page for the website mywebpage.com. The web query was created to obtain the URL for a web page and save it in the cell "B4".
The web query was made to obtain the URL for a web page and save it in the cell "B4". Each row is separated from the next row by a comma, like this: After you add all of the rows, you will see the additional data at the bottom of the data panel, as shown in Figure 3. Figure 3: Additional rows of web query data. If you start typing in the first row of data and keep pressing the Enter key after each row, the web query will start to function.
How do I insert a web query into Excel?
I've been reading about Google Sheets and web queries, and it seems like you can query a website directly from Google Sheets. Is this true? Is it possible to do this for Excel as well? Is there some way to get Excel to make a web query (for example, if I want to know what the weather was like in a certain city on a certain date, I could query that) and then import it into Excel? Here are some ways to achieve your goal using Javascript: 1) Use the google.run to send a GET request to your Google Sheet and get the results back in JSON. Here is an example of how to do it.
2) Use the google.host.executeUrl to send a GET request to your Google Sheet and get the results back in JSON.
3) Use the JQuery .getJSON method to get the data back.
4) I don't know of any native solution. If you want to go with the native way, you may have to use Google Apps Script to get the data.
In order to achieve this in Excel, you have two choices: Export the data from your sheet to Google Sheet and use the above-mentioned methods to get the data back to Excel. Write a script which will get the data from the website and insert it in Excel. In order to do this, you will have to use the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel object.
Yes, it's possible to pull down data from Google Sheets into Excel. There are several ways you can accomplish this. The easiest way would be to export your sheet as a CSV, then import the CSV into Excel using the Import & Link option. Another way would be to have a Google Sheets script create a new spreadsheet and populate it with the data you'd like to import. This would allow you to add the Google Sheets URL to the cells and then trigger the script when you'd like to import the data.
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a way to get the Google Sheets data to Excel without exporting it. It would be nice to have a direct way to import the data into Excel, but we're still a long ways from that.
