How is child bypassing Family Link?
I recently received an email from my niece.
She is a college student currently enrolled in Family Link and wants me to know that she has tried to enroll in a family program but has been unsuccessful. A little more detail on the message below:
I tried to enroll in this program through Family Link, but the only program I could view is called "Home Study Program" - I couldn't go to any of the other programs that were supposed to be available to my family members even though I have the same last name as my brother. Please advise if it is something that has gone wrong with my family link account and what steps can I take to help regain access to these programs? Thank you for your consideration in this matter! Her message included a screenshot showing that her last name was among those in a block in the My Account section. It would appear that she was unable to access the enrollment screen and, therefore, FamilyLink because she was blocked.
She has no idea why her own account is being blocked when other family members are able to enroll in other programs through FamilyLink. Unfortunately, I don't know if anything can be done. If her mother's account were not set up correctly, she may have been unable to update the last name or other personal information. That would account for her inability to get to the My Account section. Other possibilities could be that, because she was a college student, the FamilyLink systems weren't prepared for such a large group of individuals. They may not have anticipated the large numbers of young people to be enrolled through FamilyLink programs and may have decided to block everyone instead of trying to help individuals through this process.
However, I've learned that there are a few things that we can try. We can send a message to my niece and try to explain the situation. We can try to contact the Family Link Service Centers to see if they can help her get back into FamilyLink. The FamilyLink Service Center is a local nonprofit organization that provides free services to those with various immigration-related problems, many of which fall into the category of being enrolled in a FamilyLink program and having their own account blocked. The Service Center operates across the United States. These Service Centers may be able to help you if you're having similar problems.
You can try contacting the American Citizen Services Department (ACSD) about this.
Is it possible to remove Family Link without deleting account?
Family Link (Family Locator) is a tool that helps people to find contact details for relatives from their email and contacts, including parents and grandparents of their children. It's used for people with special needs, caregivers, adoption agencies, family members, researchers and others. They have many applications such as searching who knows your child in schools or workplaces, searching information on the internet, searching about people in your area, contacting birth families, finding records of an adopted child, searching for people with same name etc.
How to create Family Link account. If you want to register your email, phone number or other details in Family Link (Family Locator), first you will need to sign up for free. Once signed up you will be able to upload photos from your computer and create free profile that will be used in Family Link.
You can search about family members by typing their names. It works similar to an online addressbook. You can search using name, date of birth, email, phone number, address, date of death, relationship, state, and more. And you can use advanced search options such as searching using zip code, city, town, county or state, looking for exact address, or searching with more than one option. The results of the search will display contact info including social media, business and birth/adoption/death locations, school name, city name, town name, county name, state name and the state of residence. You can also narrow down the results and get contact info for people with same name. Once you found the person you can then contact them directly or see the contact info.
You may also use your Facebook contacts by setting your account as linked to your Facebook profile so that you can view Facebook contacts through Family Link and create or edit address book as Family Link profile. When someone adds you as friend on Facebook, you will automatically be added as friend on Family Link too.
Some of the ways to use Family Link. Family Link help in researching about adopted children, connecting to birth families and locating missing loved ones, locating adoptees in the workplace and more. It also help in finding medical records such as birth certificates, adoption files and adoption records. It also helps in contacting your birth family and the person who adopted you. People who need help may also use this app to search lost pets, locate or reunite their lost dog, cat or other pet.
