Is scraping bees free?

I was on a beekeeping forum the other day, and it hit me that I should probably write about it here as well.

I'm interested in your opinion. I don't care if you think I'm an over-reacting, anal, control freak who can't imagine life without my bees. I also don't care if you think I'm an over-enthusiastic, softy who can't stand the idea of living without my bees. (I get more of this one, unfortunately.) I just care about your thoughts on the subject.

Let me explain. A few years ago, I was in a conversation with a beekeeper who had some success keeping bees in an urban environment. I remember he told me that, although he would never keep bees in the city, if he could make it work once or twice, it would be worth trying. So I think we can agree that the ideal situation would be to be able to keep bees free from human intervention, and I also agree with that. But he also said that he had noticed something in the urban setting which really changed how he kept bees, and I think that has some value for me. Here is what he said.

He said, With bees, you have to be in control. This struck me, so I wrote about it. Then, this summer, I got into an email exchange with another beekeeper who also keeps bees in the city. She, too, is interested in my opinion on this subject. So, this is what we are going to explore.

I don't need to remind you that bees are wild animals. They exist outside of our control. They do things that we might not like. They hurt us, sometimes. They are capable of causing all kinds of problems for us.

Yet, when we look at the wild animals we have domesticated, we tend to think of them as no threat to us. If they get out of control, we have to put them back in their place. If they're threatening us, we have to put them down. But what about wild animals that have been domesticated? Is there a difference in their behaviour, and therefore our relationship to them?

What inspired you to start ScrapingBee?

I am a software developer and web designer with a passion for scrapbooking. I had been making pages using the digital camera, but I wanted to expand my experience by adding papercrafts to my repertoire. I found that after a few years, it was still hard to find an online resource that had quality papercraft supplies at reasonable prices. I wanted a place where I could buy all the things I needed from the comfort of my own home.

How would you describe ScrapingBee in three words? Easy, cheap, unique. Tell us about the development of ScrapingBee. ScrapingBee is a community based business. The idea came from a desire to share my own experience with others. I had seen so many amazing layouts using products I had never heard of and I wanted to share the benefits of these wonderful products. As my design business grew, I decided to expand my web site into a catalog of supplies. Many of the scrapbooking supplies that are popular today were first discovered online and I wanted to make it easy for the newbie scrapbooker to get into creating beautiful pages. So I researched manufacturers of the new products I had discovered online and started cataloging them. The list grew over time and became very difficult to keep up to date so I asked everyone who is interested in creating beautiful pages to submit anything they found at a bargain price. It is now almost 4,000 products that range from stamps and paper, stamps and ribbons, to ink and embossing folders, to stamps, ink and ribbons, patterned papers and stickers. Every month I add or update an additional 400 items. I also create designs that are available for purchase. Currently I have over 400 downloads with nearly 3,000 members.

My goal is to keep the cost of shipping low so that the scrapbooker who just wants a simple project can afford to participate in the creative process. The product selection also expands over time as the scrapbooking trend moves from wedding, to vacation and to babies. I add new product categories and subcategories as needed.

How is ScrapingBee different than other stores on the internet? The biggest difference for me is that everything I sell is made in America. The customer service is personal and prompt. I want the customer to be thrilled with the products they receive.

How does ScrapingBee work?

ScrapingBee is a free online tool which gives users the opportunity to scrape articles from any website.

Users create a profile, then login, and choose a website to scrape. ScrapingBee will create a unique link to each URL of the chosen website and extract each article on that website using advanced web crawling and scraping technology.

What is the difference between scraping and scraping without the license? You can access to every information for free without any registration. But, if you want to be licensed for extracting certain articles, you have to go through our registration process. In this case, we will analyze your profile and the IP address that you use. After that, we will connect you with some websites based on your profile and IP address and we will help you to do scraping or crawling there.

Is there any limitation on the scraping activity? There are no limitations in our services. The only limitation is the size of the site you can scrape. So if the site you want to scrape is a really large one, you will have to choose a different site.

If my IP address is blocked by some countries, will I get access to my profile or the scraped site? In order to bypass the block, we will provide you with some proxy IPs. This way, you can easily use our services even if you're from the restricted countries. You will be able to see all your profile details, but we will not be able to connect you with the scraped site.

How do I change my profile? Changing the profile is very easy. You need to go to the My profile section and then click the blue Edit Profile button at the right top corner. Once you have made your changes, save them and then click the green button in the top right corner. Then, you need to restart the program in order to reflect the changes in your profile.

Does the IP address allow you to scrape everything or not? Yes, it will be perfect for your crawling and scraping because we collect IP address from many countries. Are there any limitations for the number of times you can scrap a site? Scraping of a site is totally unlimited and we never place any limitations on it. All you need to do is to choose a website to scrape according to your needs.
