My understanding is that they are both used in same way. Please explain the difference. In order to understand this, you have to consider the process of activation. When the user buys an Android phone, you send them a code with a confirmation email, phone or text message. Then, the buyer has to type that code on the settings page of their phone in order to log into the account they wanted to create. This was the method for years.
