Can you set up a proxy on iPhone?
I have a friend who would like to be able to use a proxy on his iPhone to use the internet through an American service. He can't do this on Windows because he's using a Mac and I'm on a Windows machine. Is there a way to set up a proxy on an iPhone, or is it simply too much of a pain that he'd have to jailbreak?
I have an iPhone, but I've never set up a proxy on it. It's annoying half-solution, since if he wants to use the internet, he has to go through a proxy server, but he can't use the proxy server unless he gets it through a university server of some sort. It would better if the connection were at the same time as WiFi, but still 500 Mbit/sec is a lot faster than the 30 Mbits/sec.

First of all, you need to make sure that the wireless email proxy is enabled. BluemetalApr 5 '11 at 1:41. 2
I can confirm that the ability to use a proxy server with the 3Gs is indeed a choice. It comes as part of the proxy settings, I believe.

There is no native proxy functionality on the iPhone as far as I know, but there are third party add-ons that can use the proxy server.
