How do you get the server region you want in Roblox?

For most folks, it's something they don't think about.

We've recently had our server regions changed, so it's possible that you're used to a different region.

As of May 13th 2025, each region can vote on the region the community wants to move to. The regions that are picked will be the ones that receive the highest number of votes.

There have been cases where other developers have asked people to test servers they're looking into bringing back. If you really want to do something like that (be aware this is pretty much not recommended, so you're on your own), then you can look into the Test Servers list and test the server you're looking to. When you're finished, you need to email one of the Server Administrators on the list I've provided to get permission.

If you're a creator of a game and you are concerned that the development team will move your content to a different server than what your servers are currently using, then you can send your feedback about your game in the form of an appeal at the Help Center website. A special note about Region Chaining. Since the new server regions were selected, we have seen instances where there have been server region changes. These are generally made in order to reduce the load on an entire server. The regions you currently see in game can change if an entire server is moving over to a new region. This will be the case if there's too many players in the server and it is overloaded, but it's extremely rare. You may see a region change if you load a game with friends. Some regions may load a bit slower, or you may play in another region. The only time you can't visit the server that you normally play on, would be if a server is moving into another region entirely. If a player attempts to login to a server that is now the new server, they will be re-directed to another server.

This will occur more often over time, as there is always new regions to be added. There are no rules set in place right now. It may eventually go into the rules section.

Be aware of this, however. The rules for Region Chaining have not been announced.

How do I change my server on Roblox?

I have changed my server but it does not work.

I think that I need to change the port. I don't really know how to change the port and this is why I am asking for help. I have tried looking it up on Google and the answers did not help me.

The way that you do this is by visiting this URL in your browser and then change the port number in the URL. If you still want to use your old IP, change the port number to your router's default web port.

Does Roblox have regional servers?

How will my game run better? We have spent a lot of time and energy optimizing our networking and game loading processes to make your game load faster than ever. This should help you avoid the network latency that has been causing disconnects over the past few weeks.

I don't see any improvements! We are constantly updating our backend and platform. A good way to see the results of our work is to view the developer dashboard for your game. If you see your app's dashboard showing improvement, we have probably worked on your game.

My server has gone offline and I don't know why! If you are having problems connecting to the region you chose in the game settings menu, it could because your connection speed isn't fast enough to keep up with the demand. Try downloading games for free on a fast and stable connection (cable modem, DSL, WiFi hotspot) or use a VPN to encrypt your connection and bypass geographical location restrictions. Is it safe for my kids to play Roblox? Like every online game, Roblox is not meant for children and we do not recommend for anyone under the age of 13. We take user safety very seriously, but since we are a young company we aren't a part of the parental controls available on iOS, Android and Windows devices. However, our game is always designed in the most child-friendly way possible, so there's no reason for concern. If you are worried, we suggest using only trusted VPNs and a fast WiFi connection.

Why is my username black? When you choose your username you are asked to either upload a picture of your real-life avatar (a portrait image that resembles you in-game), or enter your full name as your username. Your real name is stored with your game account and should be associated with your avatar on Roblox regardless of whether it is black or white.

How do I change my region in Roblox?

Click on the Settings tab. Scroll down to the Region settings section. Click on the Region Settings button. Scroll down to the country you wish to change your region to. Click on the Select button. A box will pop up to confirm that you want to change your region. Click on OK.

The new region of your account should be selected. Click on the Apply button.

You'll receive a confirmation message that your account has been updated. Click on the Back button. Select the country you wish to return to. The country of your account should be selected.
