How do I turn off anonymous proxy on my laptop?

How do I turn off anonymous proxy in Chrome?

In the options and in Chrome itself it is not possible to turn off the anonymous proxy, I found many questions on stackoverflow but the answer of those questions does not work for me. Uninstall and install the Chromium again (I'm not sure if this would be necessary) Fix the problem. Leave it and continue using the extension. How can I do that? The proxy-settings are stored per-user in C:UsersusernameAppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefault and you can set them via "Settings"->>"Privacy" and setting the "Content Settings". The settings get saved on every restart, you just have to click "save settings".

Update: Now the user can also choose per-site, so the option to disable the proxy has been removed. But it's better than nothing, I guess.

How do I get rid of anonymous proxy on my Iphone?

If you have an Iphone you need a proxy. But I cant find any way to turn anonymous proxies off. I have a proxy installed on my desktop but all it does is make my internet slower so I would rather use anonymouse proxy on my Iphone then make the difference of a hundred to two hundred kbps slower and the whole point of anonymity. Can anyone help?

If you're still using 2.1 that would be why. You'll have to wait for the 2.2 update to remove it. I'm sure there's a reason that Apple removed it from the previous version, but unfortunately we can't know what it is. As far as what you want to do, I don't think there is a way to turn it off. There is no setting in System Preferences -> Network (other than your network type) or in the Wireless settings.

The only way you can get rid of it is to jailbreak your iPhone. It's really the only way to remove it as I understand it. There is no setting in System Preferences -> Network (other than your network type) or in the Wireless settings.

I'm still on 2.0 ftw haha. No updates till October at least :( but yea I would be interested in your comments on the jailbreak.

I've looked around online for how to do it, but it's not that easy apparently. I would either have to unlock my phone and do a factory reset, or remove the sim and just boot into it.

I tried to do the jailbreak and it just went over my head from the lack of understanding. If you want to continue to browse anonymously, the easiest way to do so is with Firefox, because if you are browsing with Google Chrome on IOS, then Safari would work too.

How do I turn off anonymous proxy in Safari?

I understand that setting it to "direct connection only" (ie the normal mode) blocks all connections except those from its own network. But if I set it to "direct connection only" and block any other traffic by default, then when I have a direct connection, what do I do to be able to view my blocked sites? Do I use an intermediary server or some setting on my machine? I'm using OS X 10.7 and Safari 6.

The setting you are looking for is called "Restrictions", located at the bottom of the general tab: As you can see, this can be set to either "Direct Connection Only" or "Default Connection". To have a better understanding of what these settings mean in practice, it's important to know that a web site's DNS record and IP address are generally two entirely different things. While DNS records contain information about the domain name (eg www.apple.com), IP addresses are assigned to certain pieces of equipment (eg 192.168.3, but only within a local network).

A DNS record is what tells your computer how to locate a website (and vice versa), but the website itself doesn't know anything about your computer. That is why with the default configuration of OS X, accessing www.google.com, and typing the address into your web browser will send you to 192.3, which is assigned to a piece of equipment that runs the www.com servers, but none of your other computer on the Internet knows anything about.

For example, here is a typical DNS record of a website that is on OS X using the default router settings: ipv4.com IN A 1.4
Where 'A' is the type of record (usually indicating a domain, but this could also be for other information like email addresses, etc.), '1.4' is the IP address of Google's servers on the Internet, and 'IN' shows that this is an IPv4 record, indicating that there is no DNS record for the IPv6 version of this website.

Now consider a website using a web server: www.webcomic.com IN A 192.

If you want to block all those who will try to get on your computer when you surf the net, you need to put a little software on your laptop. For example, this software: What kind of software does it? This soft can help you block other people using your internet connection. What does it do? Just that, it allows you to block access to certain IP addresses or domain names if you feel like. By doing that, we can block any website or IP from accessing our internet connection. What kind of options it offers? You have to install it, you can put on it some IPs and domains. The more IPs you put on it, the more specific your filter will be, because the more your IP or domain name will be added, the more people your filter will block. And with a number of IPs on it, you can block all those who will try to access from any IP address.

You can get more information about it by clicking here. So, what we need to do is to put some IP addresses on it. Then we need to find out IP addresses of those who try to access our connection. If your internet connection is public IP address, you can also use Google to find its IP address. Just type ipconfig/all on the search bar, it will show you the information.
