I have a proxy installed on my desktop but all it does is make my internet slower so I would rather use anonymouse proxy on my Iphone then make the difference of a hundred to two hundred kbps slower and the whole point of anonymity. If you're still using 2.1 that would be why. You'll have to wait for the 2.2 update to remove it. I'm sure there's a reason that Apple removed it from the previous version, but unfortunately we can't know what it is. As far as what you want to do, I don't think there is a way to turn it off. There is no setting in System Preferences -> Network (other than your network type) or in the Wireless settings.

I've looked around online for how to do it, but it's not that easy apparently. I would either have to unlock my phone and do a factory reset, or remove the sim and just boot into it.

I tried to do the jailbreak and it just went over my head from the lack of understanding. If you want to continue to browse anonymously, the easiest way to do so is with Firefox, because if you are browsing with Google Chrome on IOS, then Safari would work too.
