I have been getting a lot of feedback to my article ExpressVPN on the phone which, unfortunately for us, means ExpressVPN is blocking calls.

I have no idea what they are doing but, from the feedback, it seems like ExpressVPN is being rather obstructive in their response to these complaints.

There's also a few things they haven't answered. So far, we are just waiting on ExpressVPN to reply.

One more thing though - while all the ExpressVPN customers seem to be able to connect to external IPs and services such as Youtube etc, those behind a VPN service may need to do a little more to get this working. Is ExpressVPN the only VPN I can trust? What does ExpressVPN say? In their press release, ExpressVPN claims they are the first company that has successfully implemented the IOS app. In the last 24 hours, there's been a number of posts on sites with the claim that ExpressVPN is blocking calls - even on Twitter.

Of course, this is just a single complaint against a single provider. The number of complaints on Reddit, as well as Twitter, is much higher. In addition, it's not clear why some customers of ExpressVPN couldn't get an IP address either.

ExpressVPN are now blocking calls on our IOS based app. As soon as the iOS app detects network traffic over 2G or 3G it will disconnect. We are unable to work with the provider to fix the issue. We have asked for their help several times now, but haven't received a single answer.

I should also mention that they are blocking not just calls, but both sending and receiving messages as well - which doesn't make a lot of sense since all of the complaints are that they can't use their ExpressVPN service while out and about and so on. However, they do still claim that it is a server-side problem, not an app problem. In other words, their server software is blocking incoming calls. They don't seem to be very upfront with this, so they certainly wouldn't want to admit that they do this, either.

To be honest, I'm just wondering if it could be something they are doing to scam new customers when they buy a subscription.
