We live in a world of password leaks and security breaches, when it comes to Wi-Fi networks.

Many people have no idea how their Wi-Fi networks are set up or why they're set up this way in the first place. We're about to teach you how to connect to any Wi-Fi network in your area without a password.

This is done by hacking into the network using a known password that you use to access the internet on your device. Hackers and computer scientists have put their time into developing hacks to allow for this kind of Wi-Fi hacking.

You can then join the Wi-Fi network that we hacked and connect your laptop or smartphone to it without having to type in your own password. Hackers call this attack the WPS Attack since it requires no more than pressing a button on a Wi-Fi enabled smartphone.

This method allows for easier wireless access for everyone, even if they have never typed in a password before. The attacker connects with your smartphone to the network and changes settings allowing you to enter it as well. You won't know the exact hacker name they've used, since Wi-Fi is usually set up behind routers and isn't advertised.

In many cases, this attack has been known about for years. However, over the past few years it's become more popular due to the development of Wi-Fi technology.

Nowadays it takes less than 5 minutes to hack the Wi-Fi network. You can even do it from inside of a coffee shop where not all of the other patrons may know that you're hacking into their network. You can easily just pop out of the building with your smartphone and do so at a faster rate than most people will ever go for a cup of coffee.

What Does The WPS Button Do? The WPS button can be found on all smartphones that are marketed to be Wi-Fi devices. Apple actually markets this button as Wi-Fi.e. It has recently been found that many devices aren't really WiFi at all.

Can you get Wi-Fi passwords?

The easiest way is to take a look at the router admin page.

In my case, it's not possible to change the default login because the Wi-Fi password is required for the user creation.

So, I opened up the browser and navigated to 192.168.1 and took a look at the admin page:

I searched for the username admin in the list of users. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up and there is no Forgot Password link.

Luckily, the router has a web interface and you can simply reset the password. This gives you the same level of security as when the router password was set to a long, randomly generated string.

However, you should be aware that the password has been reset. Therefore, the router could be hacked and the password for the admin user could be changed.

What is the easiest way to get the Wi-Fi passwords of a target? If you're using a device running on Linux, you have the option of using a tool called gdbus.freedesktop/NetworkManager -o /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager -t org.DBus.Properties

It will take some time (about 20 seconds) until a connection is established and a window pops up on your device where you can select a network (the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to). You can simply press OK on your device and the connection will be made without any delay.

Then, you will see all available Wi-Fi networks and their passwords as soon as the connection is established. You can then extract all the Wi-Fi passwords by running: find Wi-Fi / -type f -executable txt. This might take a while if your target is slow, so just do it once.
