Is it OK to look at the dark web?

I've been doing some research into the dark web and I was wondering if it's possible to browse the dark web using a browser like Chrome or Firefox.

If so, would I be able to see what websites and information are on the dark web? It seems like a pretty easy thing to do. I've also heard about browsing the dark web using Tor, but I don't know if you can access websites that are on the dark web through Tor.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Edit: As of right now, the only way to access the dark web is through a search engine like Google. For instance, if you were to type in a website on the dark web into a search engine, it would bring up a bunch of results on the dark web.

This is my first time ever posting on this website, and I have to say that it's quite an interesting place. That's how I browse the dark web, and it works fine. The dark web is the part of the internet that isn't indexed by any search engines. So when you use a search engine like Google, you're actually going to be browsing the dark web.

A few months ago I wrote an article for The Next Web about the 10 best browsers for dark web browsing. I thought I'd update the list with new choices for 2024. This article lists the 5 best dark web explorers and a list of the best browsers for dark web viewing. All browsers listed here are either completely free or have a free demo available.

The list contains 4 top-notch applications: Tails (Browsing): This is the application that should be installed on your device if you want to browse the dark web. Tails hides your internet traffic and browsing activity in a way that makes it possible for you to browse the dark web.

Browser extensions for Tails: Chrome: Block all ads (incl. Trackers) and other annoyances with the Ghostery extension for Chrome.

Firefox: Dark Reader extension for Firefox. Opera: Dark mode extension for Opera. Vivaldi: Use Vivaldi as your normal browser, but use the Dark Mode extension for Vivaldi.e. Tails is a live operating system for one computer. It is based on Debian GNU/Linux and aims to provide an operating system that is privacy-respecting and provides security. Tails is therefore primarily intended for use as a live bootable operating system. Tails was originally based on Ubuntu Linux, but has since been forked into its own project. Tails has been in development since 2024, initially as a successor to FOG Linux, a live CD environment, and since 2024 it has been developed as a dedicated browser.

Browsing: When browsing the dark web, Tails is great because it hides your traffic and browsing activity. The Tor Project: An online resource about the Tor network, its clients, protocols and applications, Tor is one of the world's leading tools for anonymous communications. This guide offers an overview of how the Tor network works and how it can be used.

The Tor Browser Bundle is a virtual machine bundle containing Tor and supporting software. It is distributed by the Tor Project and is maintained and supported by a team of volunteers.

Is there a web darker than the dark web?

For most who are not experts in the field of cybersecurity, the term dark web could refer to a lot of things.

Many people think of Tor a decentralized network that allows the transfer of information anonymously as the dark web.

Others may think of the deep web, which is considered the part of the internet that no one can see unless they know how to reach it. The dark web, also referred to as the underweb, is an example of where that term can be applied but is not what we will explore today.

Dark web. The dark web refers to a website where a user can access a range of products and services using secure encryption. This has nothing to do with the dark web of illegal activity such as drug sales, weapons transactions or child pornography. That dark web has its own market place and marketplace, with products offered for sale by those trading in them. It is a completely separate economy. It is what criminals use to move from place to place without being traced.

To access these products, you must register for a special version of Tor browser that has been configured by the owner. You need to set up a strong password and keep this information private, just like when you're online at a normal site. However, if you use your computer login details to log in, it will bring you to the real website or market place, so make sure you choose different information to create your dark web password.

Accessing the dark web. Once on the dark web you'll need to look for the URL addresses that contain the site you wish to access. For example, this might be You need to make sure your browser uses a special application called the Tor plug-in. Here's how to install and test Tor: Step 1 Download the TOR bundle, which includes the Tor Browser download, Tor and add-ons (such as Hidden Wiki). Double-click TOR. Choose to run on port 9050 as 'test' for 30 seconds, as shown in this example. If you get a yellow bar indicating that you should not use the computer while downloading the software, you will need to close the installation application and try again.

Step 2 Install Tor.
