What does ARIEL wine taste like?

That is a common question of mine when someone tells me they love ARIEL.

To which I usually reply: Like Chardonnay. I hope this blog post can expand your mind and open up the possibility for you to see what all the hoopla is about when it comes to ARIEL WINE!

AriEL Wine comes in two different types of bottle, depending on the style of wine you want to buy. In their original AriEL wines you can find wines made using wild yeasts that are fermented in small barrels, sometimes aged in the bottle (and if they are in the bottle they are bottled soon after fermentation has ended), or wines that were aged in new French oak barrels. The new ARIEL wines use the same technology but have been fermented using our own unique yeast (called AriEL yeast) to produce more delicate wines. These wines are fermented in new French oak barrels and stored in stainless steel tanks.

For me, the important thing to understand is that the wine you will be drinking will taste completely different from the wine you taste at the store! So be sure to try them both at home and make up your own mind! You may have heard that there is one bottle in the world that has only a few bottles in existence! What this means for you is that it is the only bottle of wine that has not been sold since its creation! That's right, there is only one bottle of the original ARIEL, the one that was made to honor the great wine of the Middle East. There is only one bottle of the new ARIEL and it is a limited edition. You can try the bottles in the AriEL Wine Shop in Seattle or at various wine shops across the country.

I have had my original ARIEL wine since 2024 and can say that the experience changed my life. You know what it feels like when you connect with something? The moment when I opened that bottle of wine in 2024 was that moment! The very first sip made me know that I had tasted something special. It was one of the most interesting wines I had ever had. When I say the wine made me realize that I had found something special, I am not being hyperbolic. It literally changed my life.

I started getting into wine a few years later and began finding more wine that made me excited.

How much alcohol is in ARIEL wine?

We know that we need to limit our overall consumption of alcohol for various reasons.

But we also know that drinking in moderation means that we don't want to ruin our weekends with a night at the bottle store or a pub tourney. We also don't want to go over our prescribed limits. But what exactly is moderate drinking? Should we all have two drinks one day and ten the next? How about eight one day, two the next? If we all have the same number of alcohol units across the week and just reduce it as you age so it will look like you're really in control? Or do you think the best strategy would be to always work within your limits - but sometimes drink a little more than your limits even if you don't need to? These are some of the questions I want to start with in tackling my own goals. We can then talk about what works for everyone!

If I'm just guessing and looking at the data, I do see a pattern of drinking fewer drinks per week over the year. The average wine drinker gets 6-7 glasses per week (12 oz of pure alcohol) compared to 5-6 glass weeks per year of beer and 5 glasses weekly of liquor. Is there something else going on? Let's start with wine vs beer.

We know that we probably drink less overall when we drink alcohol mixed with food but why don't we have less alcohol when we just mix things together? It may not be the actual amount of alcohol we consume, it's that we need a greater dose because it is mixed with other ingredients. Some wine has 15% or more alcohol by volume. This goes up to 18% with port and 30-40% with dessert wines, cava and champagne. A typical 6 oz glass of red wine has about 13-14 grams of alcohol but it can be as much as 12. Let's put that into context with the daily limits set by U. Surgeon General:

Women 21-35: 3 drinks weekly. Women 36-65: 4 drinks weekly. Men 21-65: 5 drinks weekly. What about how much alcohol you might be missing from not consuming an entire glass at a time?
