Why is my TunnelBear VPN not connecting?

Why is TunnelBear blocked?

This is a discussion on ?

Within the Tech Support forums, part of the Tech Support Forum category. This is a question I have had for a few months now and I have no idea why it is blocked. Has anyone ever heard of the site being blocked? If it was blocked in your area, did it disappear or was it just never available .

I don't think it was blocked, we were just never able to load. It has worked fine for years now and we're still not able to access it.

TunnelBear has been banned by my ISP in the past and then unblocked. Now that you mention it I remember reading about it here on TSR. I never used it myself so it was probably a case of someone else using it and getting a notice. At any rate, when it's unblocked it works perfectly. So in your situation, it could be that it's simply just no longer working for you.

When I was at BT, I used to use it for VPN on my laptop when I was at work, as I couldn't find anything else I liked. It's pretty good, but I've never needed to use it on my phone. I guess they changed their VPN method recently, which seems odd because I've never had any problems with it.

I've only ever heard of it being blocked due to being a privacy concern. I'd probably try to get a VPN if you're going to be accessing something private, although if you are you probably shouldn't be using a smartphone in the first place! No idea. Mine is still blocked. Is there a reason you need it?

Why is TunnelBear disconnecting?

At times, you may find that you're unable to access TunnelBear websites, apps, or the TunnelBear website on your phone.

We regularly review our systems and have seen patterns of usage or behaviors that can lead us to believe you are in violation of the service agreement.

This could include sending large volumes of data to or from your mobile device, creating more than 10 sessions at once on a single device, or connecting from multiple devices. To protect our services and our users, we may limit the amount of resources you have to make VPN connections.

This page will provide information on a few of the ways we enforce our service agreement: How TunnelBear works. The core principle of TunnelBear is that everyone should have the ability to protect their personal privacy while simultaneously gaining the benefits that come with online connectivity. Our focus has always been on giving users choice, control, and customization. Your VPN experience is a reflection of your preferences you get to decide what connection method you use, what your data privacy protection settings are, and where your data goes once it leaves your device.

We do not sell data. Our business model depends on making money on the infrastructure we build and services we provide from those who want the best security they can get, to those who don't care what happens to their data after it leaves the platform. We've always been clear about what that means no one is required to sign up to keep your data safe, so users don't need to worry about getting caught for their actions or about any potential financial repercussions. For users who do want to protect their privacy, we will use the data that is provided to power our services and provide those who protect their data free of charge.

To that end, our privacy policy is an important part of what makes TunnelBear possible. The services we offer help everyone have the freedom to connect without having their personal information shared. Whether it is protecting your data against third parties, keeping your browsing history safe on public Wi-Fi, letting you control where your traffic goes, or giving you the chance to connect for free, we believe we're the strongest option for people seeking a way to connect safely and privately.

Our goal is to improve Internet access for everyone.

Why won't TunnelBear let me log in?

I've tried a couple different times, and it always says the password is incorrect.

I've tried going to my account settings and changing the password as well as logging in from another device. I'm not sure what else I can do.

TunnelBear was previously a great VPN service but then they went through a round of changes and the new setup doesn't work with my router (Cisco) and my VPN client (Hotspot Shield). So I am on the fence with them and now have to look for an alternative.

I have had no issues getting my TunnelBear account to work on my Samsung S7 phone, or other computers. However, the same cannot be said for my Roku 3 and my Macbook.

In the TunnelBear app on my Macbook, it will not let me log in, and instead will tell me "We're sorry, but were unable to log you in". On my Roku, the button on the VPN icon for "Connect to TunnelBear" appears disabled, and will not allow me to connect. When I try logging into my TunnelBear account on my Samsung S7 phone, it will connect, but when I try logging in it tells me "We're sorry, but were unable to log you in." I've had no problems getting TunnelBear to work on my Macbook, however it has never worked on my Samsung S7 or Roku 3. I haven't received any emails about this problem, and don't have any kind of technical support available for my issue. Is there something I am doing wrong that is causing TunnelBear to not work for me? I can log in on my Macbook, and on my Samsung S7, but TunnelBear won't work for me on my Roku 3 or my Samsung S7. I have tried to change the password, but nothing has worked. When I first created my TunnelBear account, it told me it was not a good idea to use the same password on multiple devices.

I have tried to follow TunnelBear's troubleshooting instructions, and have done all that they tell me to do.
