Why can't I get Netflix on my Android box?
I have been trying to get Netflix on my Android box for days now, with no luck.
All the instructions say is to change the DNS address from 8.8 to 8.4 and set my router to DMZ. Why do none of the instructions work? Does Netflix know it has to work on my particular router and IP setup?
Re: ? So you're saying the Android Box connects to the internet over your Wi-Fi router? (the same Wi-Fi router that also connects to your home's internet?). If so, I think you are referring to an app called "WiFi Connect," which is a free app that has been available on Google Play for some time now. WiFi Connect acts as a repeater between the Android Box and the local router. I believe that's what is causing Netflix to not play nice with your Android box.
You have to make sure the WiFi Connect app is not running on the Android Box or any other devices connected to the Android box. Well. The Android box connects to the internet over my wi-fi router, but it's a different one than the one my Windows PC connects to. So it would be the wi-fi router connected to my wifi router connected to my internet router, in that order.
And the wi-fi router is connected to the TV via HDMI cable. Netflix says to change the DNS address of my router and the wan IP address of my router to the DNS of the Netflix DNS address of 8.4, but my router doesn't have a DNS address or a wan IP address to change.
I have tried to change the DNS address to that of 8.4, but it has no affect on my internet connection whatsoever.
The only way I can get Netflix to work is if I turn off the Internet connectivity of the wi-fi router connected to the TV, connect the wi-fi router directly to the internet and connect the Android box directly to the internet. What about turning off the wi-fi router connected to the tv and leaving your router in the DMZ?

If you are thinking of buying a digital box like Amazon Fire TV, you should read our review before you buy one.
You may not know this, but Roku is a huge name in the industry. They were the first to come out with a big box that had a very decent software which has grown over the years.
Roku TV boxes aren't made by Roku. Roku boxes come in 3 different sizes and price range. Their newest model has gotten better over the years. They don't produce all their own hardware, but they manage it on their Roku OS platform.
They partner with different manufactures to make it easier for them to develop the various products. So far, the Roku boxes are one of the few streaming box options that have no issues with Netflix's new High Dynamic Range (HDR) streaming service. They also support 4K streaming. Roku's only competitors are Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, and Kodi.
Roku's latest box offers the best Netflix playback experience right now. There's nothing stopping you from using your Roku box to watch Netflix instead of your phone or computer.
Roku TV boxes are very good streaming boxes. You can stream TV shows and movies from apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. You can easily download or stream content from a lot of different file formats.
We'll talk more about how to stream, download, and use your Roku box later in this guide. The Roku Streaming Stick is also a popular alternative for watching Netflix on a big screen TV. Some people find it to be a bit pricey for its size. This mini device has limited streaming app support, which is something we'll get into later.
Why Should I Buy a Roku TV Box? Roku's primary focus is streaming media. So their boxes work great as a streaming box. They have a lot of streaming media apps like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Amazon Prime, Vudu, and more. If you love to stream content, it's hard to beat the Roku box. Roku has been an excellent company that focuses on streaming media.
If you are looking for a streaming box, Roku is probably one of the best choices.
How to install Netflix?
After I updated my Roku TV to the latest firmware, I was able to watch any of my Roku channel's content that I already have.
But, none of the channels such as Amazon Video or Hulu Plus offered my account for content to stream. All Netflix content (movies and TV shows) were still locked in my account.
I contacted Hulu and they couldn't tell me why there was a problem with their account - because my account worked perfectly on all their other devices. I had also changed my email address from one they had given me earlier. When I tried accessing their website, I received an error page. So I decided to email them again but to no avail. This just left me in limbo with no working Netflix account - until recently when I started getting emails from Netflix telling me that my account has not been approved.
Here's what I did to enable Netflix to work on my Roku: Go to your Roku homepage at. Select System Update, About Roku Channel. Look for the Update Channel Information button, and click on it. Once in the update process, make sure you check for upgrades for Apps & Extensions. In order to get Netflix working, I needed to do 2 things: Add my Gmail account credentials to the Roku to be able to change settings in the app. Change my Hulu password. When I connected my Gmail account to the Roku, I received an email from Roku with a link to the App Store. From the App Store, I was able to select Connect an Account and add my username & password. After the app connects successfully, I chose the Netflix icon in the app store
In the Netflix login screen, I entered my Hulu username and password and clicked Sign In. The Netflix login screen will ask for New PIN so I selected to use the same default PIN.
