How do I get proxy SOCKS5?
I'm having a problem getting a SOCKS5 proxy set up to work properly. I'm behind a proxy, that for some reason is only allowing connections to port 80. I've tried to set it up using the SOCKS5 and HTTP protocols and the same connection types as I do outside the proxy(basically, it works). Here are my settings: Proxy settings: Startup type: Automatic. Proxy type: SOCKS5. Proxy hostname: myproxy.example.com

I am new to this and it seems that it has been discussed a lot. I have never used a VPN so I would like to know what you guys think about it.
So I am using a router that supports OpenVPN. So far so good. I have a Windows machine and a Mac. My Windows machine has a wifi connection but I would like to connect my Mac to the internet through the router and use the OpenVPN server to connect to the internet.
Is it possible? I am not sure if this is possible and if it is possible, what do I need to do to make this happen? The server is located at my house. I am going to connect to it with a laptop that I will use on the road. I do not want to have to install anything on the laptop.
I have tried using a VPN and I did not like it. I think it is a lot of work and I do not want to go through the hassle of installing anything on the laptop.
