If you use Internet Explorer, or Firefox, (Chrome will work on most laptops) the connection just keeps timing out and your Internet will be unavialable. It may be your connection is not working at all. Try on other websites, and see if you can surf on them (ie yahoo). Once you can get a good web connection on the other site, try Hotspot Shield again. Hi, I am using HSS also but whenever I open my internet browser (IE 9) the Internet wont be avialable. My connection is fine, I was surfing the net for less than 20 minutes and the internet stopped working. Is there a fix to this problem? thanks

Same problem. Firefox worked fine, went up and down, tried to send data without success, then suddenly died. In the background I could hear it whining about DNS server and so on. I was in Paris with wifi and it happened right after I switched from wifi to 3g.

This seems very well coordinated indeed. I tried getting it to work over 3G and had no luck. When you attempt to access the internet, you get an error message of "not responding to DNS requests" or something along those lines. Tried resetting my router and resetting dns servers in the settings menu. This doesn't work. Please help!

I tried following this guide but it worked in the beginning (and stayed working) then after 2-3 days it suddenly stopped. I'm using hotspot shield version 5.1 (installed on Windows 7). It's free, so I would say it's still a good service. In addition to that, there's also free wifi on my college campus. I use it when my phone dies at home or when I'm working from home. It's pretty convenient and I'd recommend it.

I've tried to set up both hotspotshield and surfsafe, no luck. You should be able to do this with Hotspotshield. You should see a way to "forward" traffic to an internal IP, which will be the server's real IP address. Also, you can access the hotspot shield web page from your VPN server, and set the routing you want on the VPN server.

I have a hotspot shield service setup on a small VPS and I've found it easy to use.

He's been using it for almost a month now, and my husband isn't even sure what it does!
